I think slide away is pretty overrated, the melodies okay and the lyrics are not all that great. Live forever is a much better song, if we had to put aside bias and name the best Oasis song. It has the best Oasis solo as well.

We had 8 Oasis albums, 3 Noel albums, 2 Liam albums and 2 Beady Eye albums. Only one live album. Familiar to millions is pretty shite, too

Just realised after 11 years that Falling Down is probably Noel's best vocal performance ever.

Times Flies is at number #37 on The UK's Official Top 100 biggest albums of the decade 2010 - 2019 with sales around 1,12k. First Noel album is at #69

Just realised after 11 years that Falling Down is probably Noel's best vocal performance ever. Falling Down is pretty good in terms of dynamics and how Noel uses his voice. A post-Oasis song for noteworthy Noel vocals is also Keep on Reaching. Similarly, The Importance of Being Idle.

I'm a sucker for original stuff. Sorry. ;( I don't get why them don't release album gig like PJ, Bob Dylan, Elvis... they were SO great!

This is probably obviously to most but for me it’s been quite the revelation;
I’ve always been very pro Be Here Now, I have a huge canvas print of the front cover on my wall, I have the fan club box set sitting proud on the drawers in the front room, I’ve always thought it was one of the most underrated albums ever.
However today driving home, it sounded bloody rubbish! I don’t know if it’s because it’s a rainy December day and I was in traffic instead of sat in a park with a box of Stella in August but it was a tough listen. I’ve always considered Be Here Now the superior album to Morning Glory but as time goes by I might have to accept defeat

Wait for a few days & you'll come to your senses, "Be here now" rules.

Noel’s right: David Holmes really captured the essence of that great, really slick, really cool 70s soul sound.

The bass seems to have evolved out of the Come On Outside riff.

"What do you think of the Black Eyed Peas?"
"Prefer Black Sabbath."
Say what you want about his songwriting abilities, Gem is a funny fucker.

"I don’t ask Liam how he’s getting on with Noel, if he’s going to reach out to Noel, or if he thinks they’ll make it up. If they do, it’d be fucking great. Just for them to shake hands and go, ‘Y’know what? Let’s bury the hatchet.’ It would be nice for their family. It would be nice to see. But it’s not my department."

Ain’t that the fucking truth. Between 2005 and 2010, I watched every single Noel or Liam interview on YouTube, many several times over. Frankly, I could listen to Noel all day - he’s a very engaging story teller.

Things that would make Noel's cover of Merry Xmas Everybody better:
1. brush drumming a la HTWA 2. turn that fucking weird auto tune effect off

Frankly, I could listen to Noel all day - he’s a very engaging story teller. One can never get tired of those Bono anecdotes. In the Oasis days I would agree he’s a brilliant storyteller. I never missed an interview and often watched them repeatedly. But over the last few years, it’s the same anecdotes and the tone is a little more negative, and in a world of things to do it goes down the priority list. I think Noel from 2000-2008 was pretty untouchable in that domain. Great interviews, humour. Once things got worse with Liam in 2009 he was less and less enjoyable to read.

While I don’t think the song is necessarily bad:
The video of wall of glass is cringeworthy

Noel's a dead guy these days. Just bleh.

Obviously not a performance but I love this vid.
Cos it's their 1st UK number 1 and on TOTP.
Must've been an iconic moment at the time. ❤
