21304. American discord contacts are really ruining my sleep. Well, it's not that i wouldn't be nocturnal anyway but it certainly doesnt help that there are always people ready to chat when it's a night time.

21305. Idles were amazing btw. Loved that energy and all the political stuff, there was a real sense of unity at the gig.
Also this was probably the biggest gig where ive seen the band members (guitarist) doing crowd surfing and playing in the crowd. It was really physical up front so i was a bit surprised he joined the crowd.

When did you last see SPECTRE? If you've not seen it in a while, it's worth giving another go. It grows on you. Strange to say about a blockbuster action film, I know, but I honestly think it does.
I was disappointed myself when I saw it at the cinemas, but after each time I've watched it since I realised I liked this bit...and that bit...and this other bit. Eventually I've grown to like pretty much the whole film. Having said that, Casino Royale and Skyfall are definitely the MVPs. If the new one can get near the quality of those two, Craig can feel pretty pleased with himself.

A strong argument for saying Craig is the best Bond with those two films alone, I certainly like them more than any of the Connery ones. I last watched it last Christmas. In comparison to Skyfall, it’s disappointing but as a stand-alone film, it is decent. That’s what I was measuring it up against but I did enjoy it when I watched it again. Some of the set pieces are so great but Blofeld should have been used more I think, Christoph Waltz is fantastic.

21312. Looking forward to this as well! I always wonder if James Bond should be a little more politically minded, given that these are such riveting days in world affairs and I can't help but think it might be a missed opportunity to add a little commentary, especially after Spectre was rather bland and formulaic. There must have been commentary in the previous films but back when I was a bigger Bond fan I didn't really catch most of it, partly because I always saw the Bond films as just good fun! But these days I wonder if perhaps one of these days there'll be a Bond film that makes me think as much as the Bourne ones did....

21315. Did they not learn last time? If a simple look at a problem on a wheel is 'communication' then what is it if Thomain had fallen? 2 weeks? Idiot commissioners.
Edit: My grandfather had that problem with his stroke. Edit 2: How much did the commissionare pay Goop to suck him off so he wouldn't be penalized for hitting Franck on the home turn? Criminal!

Are you waiting for the family to arrive? Are you sure you got the room to spare inside? Does your granny always tell yer that the old songs are the best? Then she's up and rock-n-rollin' with the rest...
Still, and always, the greatest Christmas verse ever.

21318. I decided to go through the recordings ive done in the past few months, which is mainly just chord progressions and riffs, and I realised that they aren't actually bad at all. I'm just not good at finishing stuff and that's the biggest problem.
I'm a very average guitarist, ive barely written any songs with actual vocal melodies, but sometimes i come up with stuff that actually shows potential. I listen to a lot of music and i tend to compare my own riffs to songs that are actually good and I realised that some of them aren't really that impressive if you separate the instruments, they're just well structured. And it made me realise that there's no reason I couldn't write a good song as well. I feel like I've got a very decent base from all of the riffs and chord progressions I've saved, i just need to get a band around me or learn to record other instruments.
Even a simple a drum beat and vocals can probably change a good sounding chord progression to something totally different and I really want to see a finished product of something I've written myself one day. I almost did it with one song; i added a drum beat and a lead guitar (which was improvised in one take) over chords i really liked and i showed it to several people and they seemed genuinely impressed and it made me feel like i could actually make good music if i really put some time on it.

21320. ^^ I've got chords for a full song (verses, chorus, etc.) and I've been working on it today and it's starting to get closer to being finished. Had an idea for a guitar solo and also added basslines (on guitar) so all it lacks anymore is vocals and lead guitar which im gonna do last This is how the verse bassline sounds like (my guitar intonation is fucked and im gonna re-record everything later so nvm about that): clyp.it/hq30uf0q

21,322. I've said a few times on here what my favourite Paul Weller quote is (it's the one where he called Freddie Mercury a cunt for saying he wanted to "bring ballet to the working-classes.")
My second favourite is from 2008, and it's about Margaret Thatcher's Tory governments in the 80s. guigsysEstring

I was typing for like half an hour and when i finally thought it was perfect and sent it i got "sorry, we've been experiencing some issues" and the post was lost for good. Not even returning helped me to find it anymore...

21238:
I think one of the reasons Chomsky is so enduringly popular is his ability to take what feel like confusing, messy political situations and cut through them with plain English. Not dissimilar to George Orwell in that sense.
