Man Utd 0-0 Newcastle Rooney's disallowed goal should have stood as he was clearly onside, but disregarding that decision, I think 0-0 was a fair result. Newcastle had their chances, too. I also find 0-0 matches more entertaining than 6-0 thrashings. With nil-nil's you're always on the edge of your seat. This is something Americans don't understand. I find it ridiculous when Americans say soccer is boring as they watch baseball lol. But yeah, I though this was a good match. 7 pts from 9 for Utd is a good return. At least with baseball they actually go until a winner is determined in a season game. Also New York Yankees>Manchester United in terms of premierships (24 world series) I'm missing your point here???

and all those forced wins you get in baseball, pretty much count for nothing by the end of the regular season, because the champion is determined by a play-off system... just stirring tho. i love baseball. for me but, the enjoyment is in watching the game (any sport), not so much the result.

Man Utd lost a chance to win by a bad refereeing decision at Old Trafford?! Thought hell would have to freeze over before that happening! Some nice passing and good possession from them, but where's the pace and quickness in that possession that we expect from a Van Gaal and United side? United have been too slow with and without the ball for the past two years now.

Chicharito is 27? Talk about a wasted talent.

Robbie Savage has a voice that was tailor made for the silent movies.

Do we fear Citeh? They do have a track record of imploding.
But I do fear their run of fixtures....Palace (A), West Ham (H), Sunderland (A). Could well be 3 more wins. Ugh.

Just saw this. So much respect. mattVery interesting, cheers for sharing. Without him, they would have been a mid-table club. Him and Fergie the only managers who have won trophies, not having to sell the club's soul and buy them with Russian or Arab billions....

I don't understand why the PL shifted to the 4-2-3-1 formation several years ago, nor do I know why Arsene tried to adapt it, either. Why can't we just operate a well balanced 4-4-2 system again? Enough with this new-age shit.

Is it too early to crown Citeh champions? Seriously....
Chelsea are now out of the title race. Sure, they'll claw points back, but champions lose between 3 to 5 matches, and they've already lost 3 from the opening 5! Already 11 points adrift. Poor.
I'm a little worried that Citeh will seriously walk the league.

I don't think it's going to happen, but could you imagine Arsenal beating Chelsea next weekend? A 4th defeat from the opening 6 matches? The end of Mourinho? Make it happen, Arsene. What a narrative that would be! (That could be!). matt

What a narrative that would be! (That could be!). mattOkay I'm gonna predict a draw - I just think this game is going to be scrappy. But say the scenario happens that Arsenal win - surely Mourinho won't be sacked? It's funny though because it's Chelsea. That said, what another shit year we have in store. Title most likely won by a Dubai human rights abusing plastic club that buys trophies and has no fans, while real clubs like United and Arsenal continue to be a case of one step forward, two steps back (both clubs see great results but then screw up - United will probably fuck up next week after their sound beating of Liverpool). As for Liverpool, what a clusterfuck they have become - Klopp is waiting for the call and then they will be back to square one with a new manager, while Chelsea - defending champions would you believe - are the biggest joke of the lot playing like relegation fodder. Can see them trying to get Guardiola if Jose continues to fuck up, but I've watched his Munich side for a while now and it's fair to say they aren't that great a team - this ain't the manager with the high flying reputation after he left Barca. You said last year was probably the worst in the Premier League's history, I think this year it is going some to beat that.

since when does city not have fans?! they were selling out maine road when they were in the 3rd division... and united, chelsea, liverpool all spend just as much as city. City do not "sell out" in the traditional manner - they have full allocation of seats every match but that's because the owners buy the seats themselves - watch them and you'll see swathes of blue seats. And there is no way United, Liverpool and Arsenal spend as much. Granted, United have spent a lot the last two seasons but over a period of five years, the prices City have been paying is ridiculous. That said, City shouldn't even be owned by Arab billionaires - if the Premier League stuck to their rules of "fit and proper" owners (which they don't), then any league with moral values wouldn't touch these owners with a barge pole considering the human rights abuses committed by the Dubai owning family. If it weren't for Arab billions, they'd be fighting mid table to relegation battles. Until the last 7 years, they were non-entities in the league. It's admirable when clubs build up legitimately through a long term strategy of smart recruitment and bargain signings that go on to be world stars - that's how Arsenal made their mark in the 90s and it's the only reason they are making mass profit today thanks to a shrewd team building strategy. Recently, Dortmund and Athletico Madrid are the trend setters. There's a reason why a lot of fans across Europe hate clubs like Chelsea, City, PSG, etc because they aren't seen as 'legitimate' clubs, as opposed to smart thinking clubs like Dortmund and Athletico which see mass support across Europe.
