Great article, thanks for posting.
If I remember rightly the loop on D'You Know What I Mean? is a sample of a sample; they sampled the drums from NWA's Straight Outta Compton, which in turn had been sampled from the Amen Break.

Pretty sad that the drummer died destitute and addicted to drugs. Such an influential few seconds of music!

If you look at the picture of the Winstons (the picture under Oasis), the guitar that the member of the band on the left hand side is holding is the Gibson Trini Lopez which is the model of guitar Noel can be seen playing in The Hindu Times video, on the performance of Lyla on Taratata in 2005 and also in the City Of Manchester gig (amongst other performances) and was (and is) owned by Andy Bell and is my favourite guitar of all time (just thought I'd add that last bit in!)
