Sort of a spin-off of the other threads we've got going, but I wanted to make a list of songs that we know are from this period. The band have said they recorded 66 (I think) songs during this time. Of that we have:
the album Turn Up the Sun Mucky Fingers Lyla Love Like a Bomb The Importance of Being Idle The Meaning of Soul Guess God Thinks I'm Abel Part of the Queue Keep the Dream Alive A Bell Will Ring Let There Be Love
b-sides
Eyeball Tickler Won't Let You Down Pass Me Down the Wine The Quiet Ones Sittin' Here in Silence I Can See it Now/Can Ya See it Now? (also for DIV sessions)
officially released demos Lyla The Importance of Being Idle Let There Be Love (Noel vox with guitar arpeggio)
leaked demos Turn up the Sun Love Like a Bomb The Meaning of Soul A Bell Will Ring Eyeball Tickler
presumably from the same sessions? Lord Don't Slow Me Down Record Machine Nothing on Me Stop the Clocks Boy with the Blues I Believe in All Just Let It Come Down Over Me Swollen Hand Blues She Must Be One of Us Oh Lord! Evil Eye The Morning Son Velvet Building/Flick of the Finger (for DIV sessions)

I believe The Good Rebel was also written around this period.

I believe The Good Rebel was also written around this period. I've always heard that TGR is from Heathen Chemistry, alongside Stop The Clocks

Am I the only one that noticed that there is a lot of acoustic-based material from the DBTT sessions?

Am I the only one that noticed that there is a lot of acoustic-based material from the DBTT sessions? Yeah I always view it in my head as a very acoustic oriented album. I do love the contrast between DBTT and DOYS. DBTT is bright and vibrant, whereas the latter is much darker and bleaker.

Am I the only one that noticed that there is a lot of acoustic-based material from the DBTT sessions? And to think DBTT started off in Death In Vegas' hands. Sad that dream died in 2003. Would love to finally hear those sessions.

The cover of DOYS pretty much sums up its contents, production wise, in comparison to DBTT. The cover of DBTT always reflected the one-dimensional production of that album for me as well. Its like, no frills, no gimmicks, just good songs recorded well. DOYS was like "how many remixes can we have", lol

Good thread! From the top of my head you've missed...
Man Of Misery It just sounds very DBTT-ish, rather than Dig Out Your Soul-era, where the demo was first heard in that Pretty Green commercial.
Velvet Building (early version of Flick Of The Finger recorded at Cornwall with DIV) Confirmed by Beady Eye during early interviews for BE
The Morning Son Noel in an NME interview from 2011: "'The Morning Son' has been around for the best part of five years." Could at this point have been called I Stand Alone, which had been a rumoured song title as early as 2004.
Soldier On "We'd started gathering together tunes that had a certain feeling to them. I was doing the Electric Proms with The Coral, who'd recorded their album at my studio, and it turns out they'd come across a hard drive in the Pro Tools that said New Oasis Stuff, and they'd a sneaky listen… So [Coral singer] James Skelly, a bit sheepish, asks me "Are you gonna do that tune Soldier On?" Now I don't remember it, Gem doesn't remember it, Liam certainly doesn't remember it, but the other lads in The Coral are going " You've gotta record this tune, its fucking boss!" So I ransack this hard drive, can't find a track called Soldier On. So we get to Abbey Road and we're chatting away and Andy Bell goes "Soldier On? Brilliant! I've got a CD of it my bag." (Noel for Mojo Magazine in 2008) The question is when this first version of Soldier On they discovered was demoed. Might have been during DBTT sessions.
Wind Up Dream Gem described it as “almost as old as The Roller” during promo for DGSS
(Guess) I'm Outta Time Demoed in 2004/2005 at Wheeler End according to some source I'm not able to find right now.
The Good Rebel Firstly appeared on fake tracklistings during that time in 2003/2004. Turned out to be real after all, so I'd rank it DBTT era.
God Help Us All Prominently soundcheck on the accompanying tour. Could have also been written whilst on tour.
I've already tried to put them into a chronological recording sessions order, starting with the DIV sessions, there's just so many gaps and pending questions. From all the album sessions Oasis did this is definitely the most instransparent and complicated to comprehend.

And I believe !!Oh Lord!! (it was titled liked that on the NG 2010 demos CD-R cover, wasn't it?) to be DOYS-era.

"oh lord" sounds pretty much like the DBTT era. the tanpura toy was used during DOYS but the electric guitar sound is really Don`t believe the truth in my ears.

The Good Rebel is older than DBTT. It's from HC era.

The Good Rebel is older than DBTT. It's from HC era. Anything to back this up? I always assumed people had just put in that era because it kinda fits the general vibe and sound of HC. And even if it was written around that time, they might have given the song another try during the DBBT sessions. I think it was in 2009, in a fan interview Noel gave to oasisgeneration.com in which he confirmed that they indeed recorded a demo of TGR, unfortunately without giving a date. In the same way we could add Kill For A Dream, The Roller and High Horse Lady to the list since they all were demoed or at least written during the HC sessions. (EDIT: The Magic Can't Be Right and Don't Be Down as well, for that matter).

The earliest I can find is a mention of rumored tracks from may 2003, which only include one song title that we know (the good rebel). So its younger than that. I'll have a search later cos I'm certain its from before 2002 hence the inclusion in rumors.

Speaking last week, Noel said that between him, guitarist Gem Archer and brother Liam Gallagher, 13 songs are now written for the follow-up to 'Heathen Chemistry'. No date has yet been set for the release of the new album and it's not expected until late 2004 at the earliest. "I've got about five songs done, Liam's got about six, and Gem's got a couple," Noel said. Liam also spoke about his songs, telling NME.COM: "My songs are the best fucking songs in the world - I write the best fucking songs in the world." Although the band have been 'officially' taking a year off, an impromptu set from Noel and Gem at The Bandits' Bandwagon club night in Liverpool (May 3) featured newie 'Stop The Clocks' and gave fans a glimpse into what the new album might sound like. Other working titles for tracks are rumoured to be 'They Ain't Got Nothing On Me', 'They Ain't `Got Nothing On You', 'Longer', 'Singin' Your Life', 'You Wanna Feel My Shame', 'Say It', 'Revolution Man' and 'The Good Rebel'. Noel revealed that the set in Liverpool was actually the result of a bet he made with a friend. He said: "I bet that if Man City won, I'd get up and play. I only said it because I didn't think that they'd win, so it came as a bit of a shock."

Given that all the other mentioned titles turned out to be real, I wonder if Longer/Singing Your Life/Say It/You Wanna Feel My Shame are actual Oasis songs too. I think Noel was confronted with some of these titles during the fan interview from 2009 I mentioned and denied any of their existence. The titles sound very genetic as well, but who knows. Could have been working titles, Singing Your Life might be Sing (If The Song's Worth Singing) which reportedly evolved into Lyla. And these could well be songs that were recorded with Death In Vegas.

Revolution Man might of course be an alternate/misheard title for Revolution Song.

I think I like the songs that didn't make it on to DBTT during his era more.
- She Must Be One Of Us - Let It Come Down Over Me - Stop The Clocks - Record Machine - Lord Don't Slow Me Down - Boy With The Blues
