... by Lars Ulrich and Felix White. www.theguardian.com/music/musicblog/2014/sep/29/oasis-changed-lives-lars-ulrich-felix-white?CMP=fb_gu&commentpage=1A surprsingly decent article from the sufferingly self-righteous Guardian newspaper concering the views of Lars Ulrich and Felix White towards Oasis. As irritatingly pretentious as the arts page on The Guardian can be at times, its good to see some positive feedback on the band. There seems to be a more favourable reaction towards the band now they no longer exist, particularly from snooty journals like Pitchfork and Guardian. Why destroy that with a reunion? The comments section is your typical hipsters though.

Very interesting. Thanks for posting, matt.
Oasis didn't change my life, but they became a part of my life since when I got into them. Even they're not there anymore, their music is still there for always.

Good piece, especially Lars Ulrich's.
There was definitely something about Supersonic that grabbed your attention. I saw them play it on a late night TV show called Naked City in earlyish 94 and was similarly hooked straight away. Probably the only time that's happened with any band.
Typical Guardian wankers in the comments section though. Grrrr.

Yeah you better not read those comments. I really regret it. "Oh that's around the same time Metallica started to suck ass, what a coincidence!" Isn't James Hetfield the main songwriter anyway?

I was only 4 years old in 1995 - yet Oasis were the only band I could name even though none of my family listened to them, that's how big they were.
I can only feel sorry for those folk who bought Blur's 'Country House' and missed out on Rockin Chair that year.

Yeah I really like Blur, but that single was a complete non-starter.

How can a band not have a lightning tech or atleast a roadie to do it? Wow that someone like Lars did that stuff with the lights.

How can a band not have a lightning tech or atleast a roadie to do it? Wow that someone like Lars did that stuff with the lights. Probably because it was a club show. They probably pulled a skeleton crew. Why pay all the roadies for a club show when you only need a few? Oasis weren't completely a small band in 95' of course, but it's common practice for most smaller bands to only employ a few constant roadies and the house staff, so wherever they're playing, will provide any extra hands if needed. That usually goes for gigs the size of clubs, halls, and some theaters. Chances are that the house guy who did lighting couldn't be there and considering it's only a club, he probably was the only guy trained well enough to operate lights for the band, while knowing the proper queues in certain songs. It happens. It's just not everyday that Lars volunteers though
