Thanks for that. glad they used those half inch afterall,
I'm not a audiophile as such but wouldn't capturing from the large originals, without mixing compression extend quality?
Perhaps an extension in quality not worth mentioning, I'm not sure...
Regardless, it would appear that crap apogee ADC they used was responsible for the final quality on that CD,
Judging by the apogee manual, I can't even tell if it oversamples or not internally- if the 44.1 setting was used on it, that would definately explain the sound (providing oversampling is correctly implemented, or even at all in that thing).

Whats disgusting is the business associated with distribution in the media industry (especially music).
It would not surprise me if it's responsible for the decline in music quality over the decades seeing as 'they' now want to re-release everything 24/96 on itunes.
Not blaming big brother here but when indie labels sign distribution contracts, all recording inventory is
'consolidated' in a business sense into the coorporate 'machine' (as owen puts it on his site - thanks for the link).
Everything that's ever been well recorded in the past - is all locked up - i mean well recorded bands/arrangements/mixing and counterpart session reels, before all these stages became entirely digital and CDs started sounding like sh*t.
I mean this really gives people the
right and incentive to share music 'illegally' via the web - nobody wants to buy music without hearing it first...
Did anyone know the first torrent programs downloadable from the web in the late 90s/early00's were actually introduced/distributed on the web by the affiliates of record companies (i.e. AOL) on purpose!? I crap you not...
See the video (link below) if you are interested, 24/96 releases make so much sense now in light of this.
Note that megaupload.com was the first website to implement what apple is doing regarding distribution and even megaupload could afford to provide a fairer deal for indie artists/bands starting out...
You may or not remember but it was eventually shut down by US authorities and the founder, King Dot Kom was extradited from New Zealand simply because his formula was thrashing iTunes that badly I feel. [/rant]
AOL/CNET VideoAnyway I'm glad BB got some decent sounding stuff out in the end
.
Can't wait to buy the albums again on cd and play them on a decent system at home
wooo relive the good times, proper.
