So sick of young people ,who talk of Ali , and assume he was greatest fighter ever , preach of his fights with Frazier and just go on and on and on about how great he was . It's. All a bunch of revisionist history because he refused to enter draft and is diseased ( punch drunk in old days ) First off before he did not enter draft and was fast. The only 2 fights he had that were against anyone was Liston ( Patterson was39 ) and the first fight was tainted as Liston barely trained and the second was a phantom punch that never touched Liston who later mysteriously died .
Lets now go post nam and his 3 and a half year break . He fought Frazier 3 times was 2-1 and in 50 rounds never knocked Frazier down . Against ken Norton he was 2-1 and most myself included think he was 0-3 the second fight he liost so bad .... Jim Murray a famous boxing writer wrote if Ali won the second fight the japs won ww2 ( yea you could be politically incorrect then ) Then foreman fight. He won however there was always a strange questioning of a black bottle foreman was given , did it contribute to his tiredness ? Or was its ops a dope ?
Then there were controversial lwins to jimmy Ellis who out boxed Ali but lost points for putting his body outside ring during round this losing
And in second Frazier fight that he won he continually held fraziers head and most thought he should have lost points for that illegal move , but since it was him no points deducted , he won by a whisker
Overall I'm not knocking Ali , but I am saying he had no punch even he admits that , he won more controversial decisions than anyone in history .. And the fact he is saintified now , if you knew of his affairs and the controversy that surrounded his wins is laughable
You tube Ali Nortton 2 and 3 or Frazier second fight .... All I'm saying he was not " the greatest " had he not bee banned who knows ? But like most things , time changes history and youth tends to just accept what your told instead of actually research ....
I say this cause I see some here talk of Ali like he's a god and you are barely 21 , you just have no clue
For the record I was 7 and was at MSG with my dad for Ali Frazier 1 the greatest fight ever ... And saw all his fights from 70 on ..... Great fighter ? Yes. A saint and the greatest , no way ..... I don't know who s , gun to head I'd say joe louis I saw all his fights on tape , and he had it all , but who knows , I think Holmes woulda beat Ali , why not Ali ducked him in the 70 s cause Holmes routinely drilled him when he was Ali sparring partner ....I'm bored just wanted to weigh in maybe 1 of you will actually research instead of spout what daddy told youn

First Tiger, now Ali, who's next Jordan?
Obviously not the greatest but the most exciting fighter I ever saw was Tyson. The fights were over before he ever got in the ring because everyone was terrified of him. When Douglas knocked him out it was the first time I was heartbroken as a sports fan.

Correct about the myth, however he was a top fighter and he has both a great personality and a great story. Considering he was so close to loosing the final Frazer fight i wonder if that result had been different how his standing in the sporting world would be altered.

I love you man that's why I bust chops , yes I saw Bruce he was great. ! Ill pm u but just so busy here , Ali is a top top fighter you and Ross are no doubt correct .......I only get so tired of these kids who never saw him spew how he is obviously best ever ...the man had no punch !! That's why he never knocked down Frazier or Norton and they fought a total of like 90 rounds and the foreman knockout was one of foreman suffering from exhaustion ( he saw god in locker ) and that black bottle right before 8 th round ...... He is a top fighter but history is judging him with a skewered view simply watch tje fights and judge for yourself BUT U ARE RIGHT GREAT FIGHTER NOT GREATEST , NOT BY A LONG Way
