The only times Oasis sounded like The Beatles was at the end of She's Electric and when they used a keyboard sound similar to the one in Strawberry Fields Forever on Go Let It Out. That's pretty much it. The press started saying they were a Beatles rip off with Definitely Maybe... what on DM sounds like The Beatles? Nothing. No fucking thing... unless of course ripping the Beatles off means using guitars, a bass and a drum. Plus the Beatles' sound was greatly due to McCartney's bass playing which Guigsy couldn't have done in his wildest dreams.
So that argument was and still is utter shit.

The comparisons early on were unbelievably lazy. Oasis certainly gave a nod to The Beatles in their 90s era but it definitely wasn't blatant. There were many other influences in there that were just as significant.
Sadly though, the band didn't help themselves in the 2000s when many of their songs started to increasingly resemble third rate knock off Beatles songs. The irony is that Noel was the one who mostly tried to get away from that comparison.
Barring the songs he wrote in the early 2000s which was probably when his own Beatles fandom came perilously close to swallowing his talents, Noel did quite well in steering their songs away from that comparison I feel. You had songs like Mucky Fingers, Part of the Queue, Lyla, Importance of Being Idle, Shock of the Lightning, Bag It Up, Falling Down, etc which didn't sound anything like The Beatles. Although one issue with some of these songs (particularly ones like Mucky Fingers and Part of the Queue) is that they were perhaps blatant in ripping off one particular artist as opposed to the amalgamation of influences that conjured up many of his classic era songs.
But still, certainly more admirable than Andy, Gem and Liam's risible efforts which were embarrassing in aping the Beatles, which more or less ended up sounding like songs written by a drama teacher for a school production based on The Beatles.

I'm sorry, boys, but She's Electric sounds like the Kinks.

easy : none. but Noel did nick a bit from Mr Kite on Death of you and me. Yeah, trumpets in Death of You and Me is probably the biggest Beatles rip off really. Most of it is just them talkin' about the Beatles. Musically this, and only this. One could argue the intro to DLBIA but that's probably the simpliest chord progression ever... So not much really. Oasis did what every band does, get inspiration from the past to make something new. As a musician, it's hard to say Noel ripped off the Beatles. It's completely untrue.

I'm sorry, boys, but She's Electric sounds like the Kinks. I for one was only talking about the end (the ahh part) that sounds like the end of Octopus's Garden

The brass in Death Of You & Me sounds absolutely nothing like The Beatles. That's ragtime influence there, not the northern English brass band stylings of The Beatles. Not even close.

The keyboard in Strawberry Fields and Go Let It Out (and also Cigarettes in Hell) have been mentioned.
I would like to toss out a couple.
1. Happiness is a Warm Gun and Born On a Different Cloud
2. It's All Too Much and Probably All In The Mind

Supersonic borrows from My Sweet Lord, but again, not strictly Beatles of course...

Well, they pinched bits and pieces form The Beatles.
Won't Let You Down, Liam's vocals: almost John Lennon pastiche The Girl In The Dirty Shirt, Noel said it's basically Cry Baby Cry (BHN booklet) Ending of She's Electric- With A Little Help From My Friends DLBIA-Imagine intro Born On A Different Cloud- Happines Is A Warm Gun and Working Class Hero (lyrics) Shakermaker is (besides the New Seekers song) based on Beatles instrumental Flying The Importance of Being Idle also has a part that's clearly inspired by The Benefit Of Mr Kite Let Forever Be (I know it's from The hemical Brothers, but Noel cowrote it) is a Tomorrow Never Knows pt 2 (as is the drum pattern of Falling Down) Who Feels Love- Dear Prudence Supersonic- My Sweet Lord (guitar bit) Better Man- I Don't Want To Be A Soldier Force Of Nature- Instant Karma Songbird (demo) I Should Have Known Better (Probably) All In The Mind- Rain (bass)

My bad. I also forgot the beninning of DLBIA and the couple of seconds where the Supersonic solo sounds a little like the beginning of My Sweet Lord. Your other comparisons are a pretty big stretch... you're using the same magnifying glass the press and tabloïds used and, to be fair to the band, with such large comparison points, you could say that any song sounds like any other song.

Or influences. And I agree with you many (of these mentioned) songs sound like any other song. For example: the new seekers one and shakermaker, or Force Of Nature/ Nightclubbing or All In The Mind/Waterfall I think the "lazy journalism" comparing the beatles to oasis and vice versa, was partly due to their references in interviews, haircuts and the hype surrounding them during the heydays (with the beatles related quotes flying around "bigger than the beatles", "oasis are bigger than god")

That bit where they wrote the best pop songs in the world was pretty reminiscent of The Beatles.

Shakermaker!
Seriously why haven't I heard about this before. It's like the whole song they ripped except that weird outro.

I thought I remembered someone once saying on here that the instrumental part after the second chorus of The Masterplan was ripped off a McCartney song

I thought I remembered someone once saying on here that the instrumental part after the second chorus of The Masterplan was ripped off a McCartney song "The Back Seat of my Car". There is some ressemblance, indeed.

Maybe that's why I can't bring myself to fucking like it For me Roll With It is a weird one because I know it's not exactly a masterpiece and might as well be a B-side. But then again, when I think about it, it really fits the album, just like Digsy's Dinner in DM. I know the roads down which your life will drive. I find the key that lets you slip inside
Kiss the girl, she's not behind the door.

Know it's not The Beatles but Feel The Pain and Don't Go Away still makes me laugh. How blatant lol.
Have the Real People and/or Noel ever mentioned this in interviews?
