I'll be extremely happy if we get to the round of 16 tbh I can't see any of the Italian teams going far too, but then I don't think anybody predicted Atletico Madrid would have reached (?) the final last season, who knows...

Thoughts on Van Gaal? Can't wait for him - I'm actually a big fan of the man. His Ajax team 20 years ago was legendary, and I sure as hell hopes he doesn't tone down his press conferences in England. I hear they are pretty fiery. It would be great if he got the United youth system up and running again, and with his coaching expertise, I think he's going to do well with United. I would give him time though - his methods require patience as seen at previous clubs, but he gets the job done nonetheless. The league may be a stretch this year, but top 4 would be a success."1st not 4th is always the challenge" Couldn't be happier with van Gaal at the helm. Need a commanding center back and his wing backs tacticts will work a treat imo. Such a big contrast between now and this time last year. United will be up there even wit the squad as it stands now. Although Rogers is a very good manager Suarez going is a huge loss, expect liverpool to go back to their inconsistencies of old. The major signing Lallana out for a while, injured in training. They won't be doing a "this doesn't slip" talk towards the end of the season this time around Drogba back at Chelsea, looks like Lukaku will be loaned out once more. Their season relies on Diego Costa. If he is on form they would be my favourite to win the league. I wouldn't be surprised to see United have a slow start to the season, but they will inevitably get up to speed again - as the old saying goes, Rome wasn't built in a day! Van Gaal is such a different manager from Moyes - even Fergie - so his training methods and tactics will take time to embed themselves in the players minds. But importantly, his methods are the right ones. I'm a big fan of Dutch football and fascinated with Ajax and their philosophy and that club has churned out a lot of football geniuses, like Cruyff, Michels, Bergkamp (my personal favourite!) and Van Gaal himself. Interesting that Cruyff, Michels and Van Gaal all had roles to play in making Barca the super club they are. If it's a slow start, I can see some thinking it's deja vu all over again with Moyes, but he must be given time because patience with Van Gaal will be rewarded for sure. What's more, I hope he can kick start United's youth system again and they churn out another raft of great players. A great coach, whose influence will be beneficial to United and the English game itself. Aside from Wenger, that's Van Gaal, Rodgers and Martinez all in the English league who play fast flowing attacking football that is a joy to watch. All teams I will be looking forward to following next season.

Celtic smashed 4-1 tonight by Legia Warsaw. Fucking joke of a club with an absolute fucking joke of a manager. The board is to blame. Not the manager.

Good result there for the Rovers, best atmosphere at a game for quite some time. We made Cardiff look shit!
Nobody making a championship thread this season?

Players that refuse to train in order to gain a transfer should be given a ban when they move.

There should be an option for lower league clubs to not participate in the Capital One Cup, just provides an unnecessary distraction when you come in at the first round + most teams just field a second choice side and don't give a shit about the fans that paid to see the game I.e Rovers last night!

your team got it's revenge against Germany, eva. pfft that was not revenge, it just made me more upset about losing the final... Having Di Maria, Aguero and a few others in good physical form, we could have been champions

US youngsters midfield in that opening 45 looked more like the home side than the Czechs as they dominated the game. (The Guardian)
Nice to see US wins on European soil become less of a surprise even if it's only a friendly.

Would love to see LEEDS up this year there at 10 points 3 adrift , back in 90 s before the scandal , LEEDS , Viduka , bowyer. Harte Kewell, smith , even fowler , were as exciting team as I've ever seen , thought they would challenge Man U but that scandal put them out of footy, big leauges, would love to see them back up

Funny. You don't hear much big SAM bashing this years , I've said from day 1 he may plAY boring football , but more years than not he has undefunded sides yet produces very respectable results, and it's a joke how newcastle are giving padded so much time , yet big Sam got sacked Immeadiatly. , looks like west ham will be safe as usual big SAM gets it done , I'd rather have bodi g and stay up then Keegan footy with no plot

I'd rather play shit and win than play great and lose, d'you know what I mean? Got the job done at Rovers, never should have been sacked. If they had someone top class lined up to take his place and waited til the end of the season before respectfully dismissing him it wouldn't have been so bad. Its the way they replaced him with some incompetent retard that annoyed the fans *Del Preston from Wayne's World 2 voice* but that's a different story altogether
