Beats urBeats In-Ear Headphones fucking suck... I bought a pair on the day Noel's album came out and they're already cutting in and out. Luckily, I bought the warranty. Piece of fucking shits. Thanks. I returned the earphones and the sales associate said the Beats Headphones are returned more than the earphones. Piece of shits. God bless.

Just picked up these inexpensive ones from SkullCandy today, as my Phillips equivalent pair (which i rate highly) are wearing out and I always like having a few pairs. Not going to lie I like these SkullCandy ones, as they have a strong bass. Although I paid the listed price of $20. Not too shabby. I'm starting to consider Beats as I dislike the poor bass on the Bose, but I'm not planning on buying anything for awhile yet. Bass is very important to me, if you couldn't tell. www.bestbuy.com/site/skullcandy-inkd-2-earbud-headphones-black/6461052.p?id=1218738048111&

I did own a pair for a while and the bass was really overpowering to the point of distorting other frequencies. They can sound deceptively good until you listen to songs that require a more finesse in the high frequencies. Then you realise how muddy they can be. If you want to go down a completely different route you could get a pair of studio monitor style headphones and use your own EQ settings.

Can't say enough good things about this product (ear phones) : www.ei8htball.co.uk(Yes, they are a Liv4ever sponsor but I would never have a so so product sponsor us) This x100000000 These headphones are the best I have ever had for my music taste, and the first ones i've seen in ages which aren't designed purely for the bass-heavy shite music currently infecting the charts. They actually sound like they were made for Oasis-like songs, Alt Rock etc. Highly recommend (p.s. Sennheisers are good but break even if you're careful)

Some I'd recommend: Audio Technica ATH-M40x (have more accurate sound than the more expensive M50x, try out both) Beats Solo 2 (yes, these are actually very good. www.innerfidelity.com/content/time-rethink-beats-solo2-excellent)Sony MDR-V7506 (these are the standard in radio) Bose AE2 (i use these for gaming and listening a lot and they are very, very comfortable and have good sound)

I've been seriously fighting the temptation of purchasing Beats every single time I'm out. I can't really afford to, and feel like I'd be just paying for the name (although sampling them at Best Buy, they seem a bit of alreet).
Think I will finally get a pair of new headphones this year, but might hold off til Xmas. Either way, this thread is incredibly useful.
Will keep my Bose, mind, but am looking for something beefier in terms of sound (bass, especially).

Especially being endorsed by webm@ster. Will give this one a serious look in.

I'm terrible at buying earphones - the ones that plug into your ears. Because they never let you try them on in the store, you pretty much have to gamble and then you get home and they are just utter balls. I need to buy a good proper quality set of ones though.

I'm with you on that, except my only beef with buying good headphones is the price. I mean, I was looking at the aforementioned Sony MDR-7506, along with some other Audio-Technica cans, and they were both $99. Sure, it's cheap in comparison to some of the other headphones you could buy *cough*beats*cough* but $99 is still pretty high. You could just as well buy yourself some albums with that, and still have plenty of money left over.

If you want to buy a great pair of headphones (and an amp to drive them) that will make your music sound as good as possible, it's still significantly cheaper than buying a great stereo or Hi-Fi system that will do the same thing.

Heh, I always think about how I can buy some albums with the kind of money you'd spend on some good cans. I had some $30 Sennheisers that lasted me beyond the warranty. The Sony earphones I recently had sounded great, but they didn't last me long at all. Just before that, I was just taking in all the Apple EarPods in for warranty claims, but that gets boring after the fifth pair. Lol.
Just recently bought these IEMs that I really like. It was a nightmare to begin with because right outside the box they don't sound great. So it's a little of breaking them in, and then finding the tips that fit properly and isolate the best. I especially like that it comes in pieces, so now that I have what I like, it's just buying replacement parts when things blow out.
I could have gotten some first gen Momentums fairly cheap, but I can't stand remote controls on these things. I never use them! Someone recommended me some AKGs that I still have yet to bite too.
I like to read what the Head-Fi guys say about things. Personally like a flat and clear sound that I can EQ as needed myself. With that last Sennheiser i had, I also realized that I like those faux leather pads versus whatever else you can get, so my next cans are probably going to be similar.

I understand that completely, but when you just wanna get a nice pair of headphones that do the trick and don't cost too much, it sucks.

All I've heard about Beats is that they're very, very cheaply made for listeners who just want a heavy bass, and that you can get the same quality for far less. Maybe it isn't true for all their models, but I wouldn't trust a company that would do that. And for whatever it's worth, I hung around audiophile forums when I was building a stereo system, and they all ripped on Bose. The company's earlier products are said to be alright, but the popular line is "no highs, no lows, must be Bose." Some will admit that it's mostly the company's advertising and marketing practices that they really hate, but it's generally agreed that they don't deserve to be the big household name for quality audio when there's so much better out there. It was mostly about speakers, but they'd probably say the same about headphones. I think I've had three Sennheisers at less than $30 each. One started going in and out after a year or two, one got lost, and the ones I currently have have lasted a few years albeit with very rare use since I'm more of a speaker guy. I got them all online and I've never seen them at Best Buy but I think they're a good brand until they stop working.

When I got them years ago, I really liked them. But now find them so mediocre. Great for flying on airplanes though, incredible actually for that. Whenever I do purchase (or gifted) a new set made by a new brand, I'm definitely keeping Bose as a spare; too decent to just toss out. But this thread is certainly helpful. And for what it's worth, Noel should go into the headphone department. Wouldn't have the namesake Dre does, but I'd bet it would be a shed times higher quality! Go on, Noel.

I didn't realize how cheap the ei8htball headphones are. I'm going to order them when back in stock (around October). I'm also seriously considering asking for the Beats Noise Cancellation set for my birthday (also in Oct), although I'm trying to resist on principle of not selling out - I do love the incredibly strong bass on them, though!..... Maybe even the ones I had before, the ones I bought before were on sale, could've been past expiration or something, I don't know. All I know is the standard Apple earphones aren't cutting it; maybe I'll get the Apple $79 pair. God bless.

Hence the desire for the ei8htball ones quoted in this thread. The Bose Noise Cancellation headphones I use around the house, and they are literally amazing on airplanes. I'm going to keep them as a spare pair, but want the Beats for the much stronger bass....So I probably will sell out, although you don't know how strong my hatred is of that marketed product.

After the saga of this thread, I finally settled on Beats Studio Wireless headphones as a birthday gift ( Let It Bleed). On first use, I am somewhat disappointed. The Bose I have is a much better with clarity and hearing all the sounds, but it really doesn't cut it with it bass. Whereas Beats are made with the bass (and really only the bass) in mind, but doesn't sound as good overall compared with the Bose counterpart. I think the combination of the two would make the perfect headphones. Keeping the Bose, mind, as I think both serve different purposes. The Bluetooth Wireless aspect of the Beats is rather nice too.

I'm actually proper enjoying the Beats Studio 2 Wireless. I was tempted to exchange them for a different brand, but I'm actually warming greatly to them. They are good for all these genres: Rap, Hip Hop, Electronic, Punk, and Pop. They struggle with straight, normal, generic Rock. So not terribly good for Oasis, which is a disappointment. Blink-182 sound fine, Oasis not as much: Fine margins, eh? But that's alright, I guess.....When you do hit a track that works well, it is phenomenal. I don't doubt you can do better for cheaper, but I'm happy with switching between these and the Bose QC15 I have as needed. Let It Bleed@wadfalkirk *air drums*

You know the Beats headphones are ace when you miss the fuck out of them. Fucking treatment center. Because of your goofy ass, I bought another pair of Beats Earphones....they shorted out in about two weeks, got the warranty, though. So, now I have Wireless Beats Earphones....not loving them, the whole wrap around the ear dynamic doesn't really jive with me - might take them back, I still need to experiment with the ear insert plugs. Thanks. I took the Wireless Beats back, and got the $99 pair, with the warranty of course, so I can take them back in about two weeks when they short out. God bless.
