Just wondered how reputable NME are nowadays. For example, it's clear that Beady Eye's management had arranged a deal whereby they'd post almost daily Liam articles in the run up to the release of BE, and now that's passed the articles have stopped. Not only is this bad practice for bands to be able to secure publicity so easily but the fact that its so obvious amuses me.

Don't like NME and I'm not bying what NME says. It used to be a good music paper, but not anymore. They're always busy with "Next big thing", but big thing can also be found outside their term.

They post a lot about the Gallaghers because they're consistently in the top 5 most read/shared on their site. Their Liam/Noel related stories also generate a tonne of comments on facebook. Its good for business basically.

I believe it's very beneficial for tickling feet I agree there, Pat. I'll always remember my ill-advised attempts to substitute the NME for Q magazine when it came to tickling feet. It didn't end well.

Not only is this bad practice for bands to be able to secure publicity so easily but the fact that its so obvious amuses me. It's more likely that they know Oasis / the Gallaghers still have massive followings who mainly fit within the NME target audience, therefore more stories = more hits At the same time, Beady Eye's management know that NME will print any old shite about them, more so than most other magazines, so are happy to feed them stories knowing that it's free publicity. Both sides know what they're doing but there's no way there'll an actual agreement there. Why bother when you know they'll play along anyway?
