Tim Jonze is over watching Beady Eye on the Other Stage and will be reporting back shortly. Despite the set being unannounced, the field was packed shortly before they came onstage at 11. __________________ Beady Eye have just finished and were "the perfect wakeup call", says Tim who's back from the stage. He'll be reporting here shortly.
So Beady Eye are the special guest this morning. Awesome @glastofest #glastonbury13 pic.twitter.com/9dB7ZknDRK — MEGΔN DOWNING (@megandowning) June 28, 2013

reports are comin in now.............
Rockers Beady Eye kicked off the first official day of Britain's Glastonbury festival with a surprise set on Friday (28Jun13) as downpours threatened to hit the site and turn it into a quagmire.
As heavy grey clouds hung ominously over the event in south west England, Liam Gallagher's band took to the stage at 11am local time for an unscheduled performance.
They played tracks from new album Be as well as songs by Gallagher's former group Oasis, including Rock 'n' Roll Star and Morning Glory.
As they departed after a 45-minute set, Gallagher told the crowd, "You've all been brilliant, but not as good as us."
Rumours surfaced earlier this week (beg24Jun13) suggesting Beady Eye were one of several acts lined up for surprise performances at Glastonbury this weekend (28-30Jun13).

some good pics and comments here, liam looks boss! www.itv.com/news/granada/2013-06-28/secret-liam-gallagher-gig-kicks-off-glastonbury/Secret Liam Gallagher gig kicks off Glastonbury - last updated Fri 28 Jun 2013 He swore he would never play Glastonbury again after headlining with Oasis nearly 10 years ago - but today Liam Gallagher's Beady Eye kicked off events at the festival. With the words "Get in" and a moment of silence while he surveyed the crowds, the singer launched into Flick Of The Finger, the first song to be heard on the Other Stage at Worthy Farm this year. Despite the relatively early hour and the mud underfoot, thanks to a downpour of rain that lasted all night, thousands of people turned out to see the band. Their performance was unbilled but Gallagher had dropped heavy hints about it on his Twitter account. Although the Mancunian was wearing sunglasses, they were mostly not needed as grey clouds hovered over the Somerset site, with the sun trying to break out. The biggest cheers came for Oasis hit Rock 'N' Roll Star and, perhaps aptly for the time of day, What's The Story Morning Glory, which turned into a mass singalong.Fan Hayley Storey, 30, from Leeds, said: "We only came this way because we wanted a beer - we'd not heard they were playing."It's a great way to open the festival. I'm so glad they did Oasis stuff too."Chris Goode, 35, from Greenwich, south-east London, said: "It was quite a surprise to see them. It was just luck."I didn't think Liam would be up this early in the morning. I bet he's not even been to bed yet."It seems the singer was also surprised to be awake, grumbling to the crowd at one point: "11.30 in the f****** morning."But he later added: "It's never too early for a bit of rock and roll aggro." He had previously complained about the sound system at the festival after Oasis played on the Pyramid stage in 2004.Gallagher apologised to festivalgoers for making their headaches worse if they had one, and told them with his typical swagger as the set came to a close: "You've been amazing. But not as good as us."Have a good day, weekend, life."His partner, Nicole Appleton, was among those watching the performance at the side of the stage.

s Glastonbury secrets go, this one wasnt particularly well kept - Beady Eye frontman Liam Gallagher had yesterday posted on Twitter some fairly transparent hints about what he and the other former Oasis members (minus Noel, of course) might be up to this morning.
Duly, a sizeable crowd had shaken of their Friday morning hangovers to come and see them on the Other Stage - some nine years after the younger Gallagher had said he'd never perform here again due to the "s--t sound" and the "wind". But their 45 min set was a punchy, adrenalised way to kick off the festival. Gallagher was on typically scabrous form, sneering at the crowd in his Parka and sunglasses. His husky whine mixed menace with melody, and the band's Beatles-y pop-rock and dirgey psychedelia sounded racous and re-energised - a far cry from the last days of Oasis - while horn flourishes added something unexpected.
The biggest treat, however, was a thrilling romp through his former band's Rock 'n 'Roll Star and Morning Glory. "You've been amazing, but not as good as us", was Gallagher's parting shot. And not a gust of wind to put then off.
