No chance Serie A, Ligue 1 and Liga are better than the Premier League Ligue 1 is growing up now with the Arab money (they've kind of lost a club like Lione though), the Spanish League has got two of the biggest teams in the world, an amazing one and some pretty good ones like Valencia, Atl. Bilbao and Sevilla (and they are usually pretty good when they play European competitions, while, especially in the Europa League, teams from other countries don't seem to be really bothered), and Real Sociedad is having a good time, but the rest is pretty shit Serie A is too centered about tactics ( ), it was spectacular when we had great players, it was definitely the best league in the world, but those times seem to have gone, with very few "top players" left The Premier League is probably the most complete league now, great players, funny matches to see, and the fact that you never know, everything could happen each to their own. id rather see nice tactical football than strong, fast football. too many teams in england still relying on long ball. thats kids stuff... all the big names are foreign anyway. proving (in my view) that the mainland creates better overall players. they came from leagues that play better overall football which is why they can slot into the english game after they hit the gym for a bit. historically (even up to now) not many english players ever leave england. their 'style' doesnt fit anywhere else in the world. the ones that do leave never have as much of an impact as they did in their homeland, and most have little to no impact. just my opinion obviously...

Serie A and Ligue 1 are in NO WAY near the quality of the Premier League. Italy's best team Juventus failed to reach the knockout stage of the Champions League and couldn't win the Europa League. As for France, corrupt Arab money does not equate to a better league than the Premier League and only PSG and Monaco are benefiting from that money, not the French league. What's more, if you think England has grassroots problems at the moment, it's even worse for the French at the moment, when things are looking bleak for future prospects because clubs don't have the capabilities to invest in youth these days - in January 2013, most clubs apart from PSG and Monaco had to sell their best players to adjust to poor financial situations. I personally think the La Liga is probably the highest quality league in the world at the moment, but for entertainment, the Premier League still wins. I agree with sgtpepper, some English clubs still rely on long ball football - which is simple and kids play. But the truly great teams with great heritage are all brutal attacking teams - since the Premier League began, Arsenal's league wins with Wenger, ALL of Fergie's league wins and Man City (even if they did but the title) played great football, while Liverpool are reverting back to their attacking credentials from their glory years. Everyone remembers the great attacking teams of English football - hell, Tottenham's FA Cup and League double in the early 60s is one of English football's best remembered team for their attractive play, then Liverpool in the 60s, 70s and 80s. Then you have Brian Clough's Nottingham Forest. So English football is not suspect to great attacking teams. But lower down the league, things are beginning to change - many clubs have opted for a continental attacking style rather than playing ugly, most notably Swansea who have made the best success of it over the last few years. This gives some optimism that English football is finally beginning to shift away from the default long ball tactics. The national team still plays like this, but it might not be long before a manager with attacking credentials is hired.

dont get me wrong, there are some english teams that have and do play awesome football (the ones you mentioned for example). ive even seen wigan play some amazing stuff under martinez. the cream for me was united and arsenal in the 90s and early millennium. united dont play anything like they used to tho and thats not just this season...not that it stopped them from winning. the last couple of seasons have been the over the top exciting aswell, which draws me in. i think the biggest point you brought up tho is that the national team still plays pretty unattractive stuff. that boils down to grassroots and the players being taught that style i think. youll never get a foreign manager able to come in and in the short time the players have together, change their whole football mentality. an opportunity squandered was the westham team in 1999-2000 (rio, lamps, j.cole, defoe, g.johnson, carrick, sinclair). they couldve built a national squad there, but they all eventually left/had to be sold.

I think managers are to blame for the national team's faults, I mean, Hodgson?Really? If you look at the team, Hart is a great goalkeeper (he has his bad days tho), Jagielka and Cahill are brilliant, and Stones could become a fantastic player, Flanagan and Shaw are really young and I'd say their future's bright (Clyne and Chambers are pretty good as well), Baines is one of the best in his position in my opinion and he's got lot of experience, Johnson too, even if he isn't THAT good (and there's Walker as well, which is injuried, right? ) The midfield's got lots of young talents like Barkley, Lallana,Henderson, Sterling and obviously Wilshere, with Milner and especially Gerrard bringing experience in it Rooney is Rooney and I don't need to say anything else, you probably miss a great striker that could play with him, but with Sturridge they could be a good couple, who knows, a shame Walcott and Rodriguez got injuried cause they could have had a goot tournament I think, and especially Walcott who's really fast could have made a big difference The thing is that nobody seems to be able to make them look like a proper team, and it's a shame really, cause they've got a big potential Hope everything's understandable guys

personally, i think most of those players aren't anywhere near up to scratch on a world scale. hart is quality. gerrard is gerrard. baines could do alright. rooney is way over-rated. lallana and wilshere have potential. the rest are just middle of the road at best, compared to what they have to beat out there. i dont think it matters who is managing really. altho hodgson is definitely an odd choice... again, just my opinions.

Well I think Shaw, Barkley and Stones are incredibly talented, Flanagan and Henderson, even if I'm not a big fan, are pretty good as well Cahill and Jagielka are a solid couple The start team is there, the problem is that they can't really play together
