I've never watched it in my life to be honest and I doubt I ever will.

I've never watched it in my life to be honest and I doubt I ever will. First 4 seasons are almost flawless. I would give it a try and then just pretend the show ended after season 7

Question: What in all honesty apart from taking his helmet off did the Mountain actually do to Unella? It wasn't my initial rape thought. I know you posted this a while ago now, but I understand the original plan was for him to rape her, but people had been so angry over Ramsay raping Sansa they cut it out last minute. Instead it's basically implied that he's waterboarding her the way Cersei was doing with the wine. Lena Headey and Hannah Waddingham came out recently about how hard it was to shoot that scene in so many takes because Hannah really was getting the wine poured on her and Lena had to purposefully stop aiming for her mouth.

I feel like we've been waiting for the spinoff forever. But I am greatly looking forward to House of the Dragon. I just hope HBO snagged better writers this time around!

What an excellent first episode! It’s everything that it wanted but visually it’s even better than expected. Costume and set designs were on point. The production value on this show is outstanding and you better hope Amazon can compete with that or it will be tough to see those shows back to back.
Also Matt Smith nailed it as Daemon. Menacing performance.
I’m so glad the Game of Thrones universe is back. And it’s a nice treat to have it only one week after the BCS finale!

It wasn’t really wasn’t about the writing for the final thrones season. It was more about the creators ending the series early to go make their Star Wars trilogy that they ultimately got dismissed from anyways. That was the main issue in my eyes. Thrones really needed 2 more seasons to complete the story. Rushing the white walkers stuff into a single episode was a travesty. Supposed to be the biggest threat of all time. They even mentioned it last night.

They even mentioned it last night. They also mentioned the prince who was promised who will defeat the night walkers. That was a major plotline in GOT that they kinda forgot about in season 8 and decided that Arya killing him instead of Jon Snow was a great twist, ignoring what they set up to this point. It’s a shame how they butchered the ending, I will never get over it it’s so annoying. All of this because two guys were bored

Thrones really needed 2 more seasons to complete the story. Rushing the white walkers stuff into a single episode was a travesty. Supposed to be the biggest threat of all time. They even mentioned it last night. I think it's no coincidence that the writing took a nosedive after they had run out of book material. This really started showing in season 5 and continued to worsen. I'm certain they would have done a better job with two more seasons as you suggest, but I don't think it would ever have ever compared to the quality of the first 4 seasons.
Not to mention, rushing or not, there's mind numbingly dumb scenes in seasons 6, 7 and 8, which are examples of bad writing which could have easily been salvaged with just a little bit of a rewrite. As somebody who has written scripts, it strikes me as though they began filming based on a first draft. They just committed to trash, likely as you said, to get to Star Wars and other projects more quickly. Which is how we get classic memes like "Dany kinda forgot about the iron fleet." That scene in particular would require all of about 20 minutes or less of writing effort to correct and make sensible. The fact that it ever made it out of the writers room in that condition is insanity.

That scene at Dragonstone was absolutely amazing. Visually this show is just incredible. I really can’t wait to see all the milestones from the book in the show. This could top GoT. I never expected to be this hyped again. WAH WAH WAH I can’t contain my excitement

This might be one of the greatest episodes in GOT history. Wow. I legit teared up a little in the throne room scene. Hope Paddy gets some awards for his performance.

The scene in the throne and the one with the dinner were great. Aemond Targaryen is shaping to be a great character, perfect nemesis for Daemon.

That scene with Viserys walking to his throne was 10/10. The entire episode was amazing.
