What did you think of DGSS?... I thought it was great at the time, still dig it but have to admit the standout tracks (wigwam, roller, FLW) andthe bsides are the ones I listen to most these days.. but flick of the finger is the best song ive heard them do so far so really lookin forward to hearing the rest

Definitely getting a lot of positive reaction. Is there anyone who was not convinced by the band after DGSS, changed their opinion after hearing BE? Absolutely. The first album was somehow "retro". This is finaly contemporary album from 21st century that can compete with other bands ... it is simple, easy listening, but after few listens really catchy. they did a great job

Dump off Flick Of The Finger and Second Bite Of The Apple, replace them with ANYTHING from the bonus tracks (except for Dreaming Of Some Space) and it's 100%. Those aforementioned tracks are the only flaws

7.2/10 standard album. 8.0/10 With bonus tracks.
For comparison - DGSS 6.0/10 and HFB a 6.4/10
So a good score.

Listened to it about three times so far and just finished listening to the full thing with bonus tracks (first time).
I expected something like this. Fortunately I didn't really believe any hype surrounding this record (if there was any). I appreciate them being a bit out of their comfort zone, albeit only slightly.
Flick of the Finger is the best thing on it. I think the debut had more highlights, but was more let down by production and it's weak tracks were weaker than BE's weak tracks.
I wish I could ignore Liam's lyrics. I wish he didn't keep using the word 'song' -- another band member should proofread them. Gem's are a bit silly, but its so much more forgivable by comparison. I know their music has and will never been lyric-focused, but just a tad more effort would make a real difference.
As someone who's been a long time fan I think it's a 7.2 for me as of now, DGSS might be about a 6.8. I look forward to seeing them play it live.

All respect to Liam, but I can't make myself say yes to this one.

Having got the physical copy and turning it up in my car I have to say this was a terrific album.
To me the album has a strong start, middle and finish. Flick of the Finger and Soul Love to begin, Soon Come Tomorrow, Iz Rite and Im Just Sayin in the middle and Ballroom Figured and Start Anew to close the album. The rest while not as strong as the songs I just listed compliment the rest of the album quite nicely, even The Second Bite Of The Apple which I despised when I first heard it on its own.

The only bonus track I'm really mad about is Off at the next exit. World's not set in stone could've been much better with a more aggressive vocal take

It's a YES (miles better than the previous album), but they should have included Off At The Next Exit (masterpiece, best Liam vocals since ages!) and Back After The Break. The only one I hate is Don't Brother Me, I don't understand how someone could like it... it's so flat and boring!

It's a no from me. There's some good melodies in here but they get totally let down by the amateur lyrics. "Soul Love" has a lot going for it but the simple words ruin it. "Back After The Break" is the best thing on the record for me, I'm surprised it's relegated to the bonus track section.

No! As with every album most of the songs like SBOTA, Soon come tomorrow, Face the crowd, Don't brother me, shine a light and Start Anew and Ballroom Figured are fillers for me.
The highlights are Flick of the finger, Iz Rite, and I'm just saying. They should of left SBOTA apple acoustic. Too much production on that one

Fuck can't get over how much I love this album.. It's like a Kasabian record, you have to hear it a couple of times and then it becomes MASSIVE! And the acoustic Absolute Radio gig also makes ya love the album even more... The acoustic versions give away the magic hidden in those tunes man, I'm having a top weekend, playing this record over and over!

That's not really a good thing though or what you want to be aiming for with your new record. :/ If you were planning on making a big statement then you wouldn't want to sound like Kasabian who are the kings of mindless low selling pub rock.
