There was an interesting opinion piece related to this article: www.theweek.co.uk/uk-news/52078/does-liam-gallagher-have-no-right-go-shopping-peaceDoes Liam Gallagher have no right to go shopping in peace? Ex-Oasis man and Nicole Appleton pop out to the shops. Do we really need to know that, asks Nigel Horne COLUMN LAST UPDATED AT 07:00 ON WED 20 MAR 2013 I DO NOT carry a torch for Liam Gallagher, but do the tabloids help the cause of press freedom when they publish a set of photos like this? There is nothing salacious about the pictures. No telephoto lenses were necessary and no one is topless – it's too damned cold for that. But do a married couple not have the right to do what Liam and his wife Nicole Appleton are doing without being dogged by a paparazzo? The pictures show the former Oasis frontman and the former All Saints singer out shopping. The accompanying text states that they have "hit the town" for a "spend up". This suggests they were parading up and down Bond Street. Actually they are on their local high street in north London. He's a neighbour and I recognise the stores in the photos. The text accuses Liam of looking grumpy and suggests that Nicole, by linking arms with her hubby, is "dampening his hard man image somewhat". To which I'd say, you'd look grumpy, too, if you were trying to shop with a camera stuck in your face. And even a hard man needs to take his wife shopping on occasion. There are, of course, celebrities who get their agents to ring the press and tell them they'll be visiting this or that shop/nightclub/hotel if they'd like to get some exclusive snaps. But the people who do that sort of thing do not then embark without make-up, wearing Wellington boots, as Nicole did. If the photos had shown Gallagher wrestling with a street-trader, or driving dangerously (it was just up the road from where George Michael infamously drove his Range Rover into Happy Snaps), or stopping to give a poodle a good kicking, then that would be a fair cop. Granted, Liam and Nicole spent more time in Zadig & Voltaire than they did in the Oxfam shop, but basically this is a newspaper report that tells us only that famous people go to the shops, too. It is entirely inconsequential - and simply adds fuel to the public perception that newspapers have no respect for people's privacy. Without public opinion behind them, Ed Miliband and Nick Clegg would not have had the clout to drive through their plans for what the Daily Mail calls a "chilling media crackdown". Fashion note: while she wore wellies, he was wearing red velvet slippers. Once a rock star, always a rock star. Thanks year Good read I am of the opinion that if a star is on the street and walking just snapping a few photos like that are fair game. And sure Liam with new lp coming out wont mind a little press Ya know? When he mugs like that he usually is in a playful mood , usually , lol My problem of course comes with the gangsta paparazzi that caused the tragic passing of the princess and so many other intrusions that make celebrities cringe . Don't get me wrong I don't feel for them terribly u want to be a celeb , it comes with a price but there should be some limits if not professionally than as a human being. I have seen many celebs walking the streets of NYC when I lived there the best was cars frontman ric okasik and wife Paulina porsikova they were walking toward 5 th ave on 18 th street between broadway and 5 th I was going the other way with my now ex girl had my cell phone on me ( at that time I was a member of modern technology and owned a cellphone , not now though just me iPad ) Anyway I didn't want to bothere him as we passed I just said love the new lp it was awhile back he said thanks we both kept walking didn't see the need to take the pic not that big on stuff like that , but if you are and are paparazzi where it's your BUISNESS do it with some class if your a fan use discretion IMO If its a fun moment why not but if like he was enjoying some time with the mrs A what's up works for me. Very interesting article I completely agree I was going to say before is Liam going shopping really newsworthy? Good point--I guess in the grand scheme of things, Liam shopping for sunglasses is not news. It's only "news" for those who are interested in the lives of celebrities like himself. It's more for entertainment, and I think as long as we don't take it too seriously, and don't forget that there are actual important news going on in the world, it's okay. One time I saw a headline that said something like "Ryan Gosling eats apple." Accompanied by a photo of him eating said apple. It can get ridiculous!

Jmo I agree, I think there's always going to be paparazzi around, but there should be some limits to what they can/should do. A couple photos of celebs out and about is harmless. But when they cross the line and get invasive, or endanger people's lives, then something should be done about it. If people, paps and fans alike, behaved with discretion and courtesy, I think there would be far fewer problems! And yeah, I think Liam was less annoyed and more just playing up to the camera, in my opinion. Although there have been incidents in the past where he's had run-ins with the paps and such.

It doesn't look like it's bothering him at all to be honest, he's had it for coming up to 20 years now, he's used to it.

Agreed on all points ,, and Liam can be standoffish with the paps no doubt ..it take it like every celebrity there are times you can tell they are upset and a time you can tell when it's playful , Liam in this didn't seem upset at all quite relaxed actually which is good to see But of course next time can be the middle finger out camera bashing madman The reason most fans love him he always gives you your money's worth doesn't he ? There is no real middle ground pound with him it's love / hate with him usually never indifferent that's why I'm such a fan !

And he and Noel and the rest are well used to all the press attention by now. Liam's always upfront, which is what I like about him too. But yeah, the split...it's history obviously, but I'm just peeved I never got to see Oasis live before it happened (I know right?!) Liam AND Noel both look more relaxed now though.

It looks like both BDI and Noel's HFB put on great live shows though. If Oasis does reunite, I will be front and centre A couple days ago someone posted this
13h Mitchel Gallagher @mitchelredgate “LiamGallagher: Spoke To R KID. See You In 2015. LG x” WHATTTTTTTTT!?!??
causing responses like this:
Mark @marklightbown_ so apparently Liam Gallagher just tweeted then quickly deleted: "Spoke To R KID. See You In 2015. LG x” oh my God please
Of course this is just a hoax!!! I admit my first reaction was wtf hell yes no way but after that gut reaction, my rational brain took over and said, of course not. Then the guy who tweeted it quickly admitted it was a hoax and it was done out of pure fun.

Yeah ya know its like I said in a thread the other day ..my best analogy is seeing a old girlfriend with a new guy happy healthy all that ..deep down your are probably happy ....at least I was when it happened to me .. But there will always be that part of me tharpts not ok. Ya know ? Same way I feel about the lads ,, sure I'm happy ill support thru buying there lps not burn them and such. ....but see them nah just like I woudnt want be a voyer in my exes private affairs that's what live music is like for me it just wouldn't be the same ...weird actually without seeing them together so like many of my exes I got the feeling and the memory in my head but don't care to see how great they are doing in person ..hope that sorta makes sense mate ...does for me at least ..but I would never begrudge or disagree with those who do go ,.i say enjoy ! Have a blast ...I know I did

I stopped buying THE SUN years ago precisely because they ran a two-page color spread on Liam buying a fish supper-----'why am I reading this?' I realized---followed by :'Why am I PAYING to read this?'
I have never bought that paper since, maybe they thought trivia about Liam was what folks wanted to read------but I personally stopped taking the paper as a direct result of them publishing drivel such as this.
This sort of trivia is on the computer it's almost free.
