The dude is sincere. He got duped. He's obviously pretty simple minded (understatement of the century) but they did an amazing job hoaxing him (and others prior to him, apparently). At this point, I'm more interested in this Ronaiah Tuiasosopo character. Something tells me he's got some serious psychological issues. At first I thought maybe this was a fairly harmless prank gone horribly wrong, but the lengths they went to in order to keep the prank going are CRAZY.

The fact that there were others who were duped points more toward his side of the story. I'd find it random if all these guys were duped, but T'eo was the guy who was smart enough to see through the scheme, blackmail them, use their scam to his advantage and get publicity off of it, and then turn around and say that she died in order to cover up his tracks and then pay off anyone who was involved so they wouldn't implicate him. Seriously? It doesn't work both ways. One can't think that he was dumb enough to blatantly put himself out there to be caught, yet smart enough to do the above. It doesn't match-up. As I said before. He'd have to be a highly intelligent sociopath. And that he is not.

This story just got even more creepy. From the NY Daily News: Hoax mastermind Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, posing as the mysterious Lennay Kekua, was the falsetto voice on the other end of the all-night phone calls with the Notre Dame star, the scammer’s lawyer said. The Heisman Trophy finalist “thought it was a female he was talking with,” lawyer Milton Grimes acknowledged to the Daily News. “It was Ronaiah as Lennay.” “This wasn’t a prank to make fun,” Grimes told The News. “It was establishing a communication with someone. ... It was a person with a troubled existence trying to reach out and communicate and have a relationship.” Read more: www.nydailynews.com/sports/college/hear-te-hoax-perpetrator-impersonated-female-voice-phone-article-1.1246480#ixzz2Iu6HqFDT

That is sickening. Not terribly shocked, but sickening.

Now apparently Tuiasosopo claims he had "love" for Te'o.
Is there no end to the insanity of this story?

The more I hear about it, the more it is starting to sound like Ronniah is really just a fall man for the Te'o family. Is it not possible that Te'o and Ronniah had a long and complicated "love" affair via telephones and internet. Both are in fact gay, and simply the fact that the Te'o family has more clout in the community they are making Ronniah take the plunge so that their son can move on to the NFL at take care of them for the rest of their lives.
Nah. That sounds to plausible to right in this story. Surely the BS we've all heard is the truth, right? Who knows anymore? Just go away already.

Nah. That sounds to plausible to right in this story. Surely the BS we've all heard is the truth, right? Who knows anymore? Just go away already. Who knows? Weird things happen. I'm reading a book called the Adversary where a guy went 18 years lying about being a doctor, knowing world famous people, and taking people's money in hedge fund frauds, while having a wife and two kids. His wife and kids for 18 years never visited his place of work, never saw any of his "co-workers" and everyday he spent his time walking around in the woods. I have more time believing that they had a 3 year hoax relationship, then both of them masterminding a scheme. T'eo's family isn't that powerful. Let's not act like he's part of the Kennedys. The T'eo family has almost no power within South Bend. And South Bend has nothing to do with the rest of the country. You're estimation is flawed. What's to keep him from cashing in? Surely Ronniah would make more money from a book deal, from throwing T'eo underneath the bus, from blackmailing T'eo. He had plenty of time to blackmail T'eo prior to this story coming out. Why not? Why defend T'eo? Why take the fall? What's in it for Ronniah? Nothing. There's absolutely nothing. Explain what Ronniah could gain? Explain why Ronniah would choose to take the fall even from pressure? Pressure from a family whose influence barely extends 5 square miles. Why admit to being gay on Dr. Phil? There's not enough for him to gain for taking the fall for T'eo. What could T'eo and his family could possibly be holding over him? Ronniah's already admitted to being gay on national television, having a phone relation with a guy, posing as a female, faking out other men with the same trap, and then faking her death. You're conclusion doesn't make sense. Ronniah can't be taking the fall simply because of "pressure" from the barely influential T'eo family.

In that culture things work differently. The Te'o family is quite influential in their circles in Hawaii. Anything is possible.

whenever mormonism's involved in a story red flags go up and nothing's shocking...
God bless.

In that culture things work differently. The Te'o family is quite influential in their circles in Hawaii. Anything is possible. They're not that influential that he would purposely take the fall for being gay, conning the entire country, conning several football players (which is what people keep forgetting, that several people were conned), and then faking that death of a fake girl. The Samoans aren't a cult. Which they would have to be for him to go to these lengths without any profit toward himself. They're individuals who belong to a community like any other culture. They don't all think with one brain and play follow the leader. In my opinion, it's demeaning to their culture to believe that it's possible of them banning together for the sake of one person to destroy another. It assumes that their culture constitutes a cult. For that to be the case one would have to assume that the T'eo family's THE MOST influence family within the Samoan community. Which they are clearly not. You're theory is more outlandish than the theory of him having an online relationship for three years with a fake girl. And you still haven't explained what's in it for Ronaiah. It can't be 100% fear.

I'm not saying your wrong, just what if?
This story has gone from odd to ridiculous to shut-up already. I really don't care either way. However, conspiracy theories are more fun anyhow.
