www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/sep/12/hillsborough-disaster-david-cameron-apologisesSo, after 23 years, Liverpool fans that were smeared in the crowd crush at Hillsborough, where 96 fans were tragically killed, have finally been vindicated after the lies that have been exposed to cover up the failings of the authorities were revealed today, despite the fact that any one of any intelligence would have known this for the past 23 years. This in a so called democracy, where the police, the local council in Sheffield, parts of the media (The Sun) and a local MP, and subsequent governments were happy to put a portion of the blame on the fans. Absolutely disgraceful and a smear on this country. RIP to the 96.

heysel wasn't covered up but our government interfered and managed to get all the blame on Liverpool when it was fans from both clubs that were at fault.

Famously, John Peel (himself a massive Liverpool fan) played this on the night that 96 were killed.
You hope that this day, and the following justice, will rest their souls. An exceptional and truly astonishing day where the establishment were beaten by the people. Very touching to see rival fans from Everton and Manchester United throwing football tribalism aside for the sake of this. A day that highlighted the evil in mankind but also the best.

Very touching to see rival fans from Everton and Manchester United throwing football tribalism aside for the sake of this. Tell that to the cowards in the media who have forsaken the opportunity to pressurise the establishment over a 20-year cover up in favour of stirring up sensationalistic and deceitful headlines about United fans' supposed fondness for celebrating the tragedy.

Absolutely 100% completely agree supersonic. Instead of slating United fans, the media should take a long hard look at themselves - for 23 years, they were willing to go along with the version of events that Liverpool fans had some portion of the blame. Anyone who read into this and had a degree of intelligence would know Liverpool fans were completely innocent in all of it - it was common knowledge amongst many people yet nobody in authority did fuck all, leaving the families to fend for themselves. This all happening in a self-proclaimed 'great' democracy makes me sick with rage. It leaves a permanent scar on this country and is a national disgrace.
