Hi,
having major trouble with an FLV file - it was a capture of a live stream, few clitches in the first minute but otherwise plays perfectly with VLC or WIMAMP, converts flawlessly to an MP3 for editing but will not convert to an AVI or WMV (for putting to dvd) with any of my video converters, stops after about a minute and give an error message - any ideas / suggestions ??

I had the same problem, couldn't convert FLV file to avi to burn it to a DVD disc in past. What I'm doing now is, transfering FLV files to my extern harddrive and connect it to my TV, so I don't need to burn it to a disc and can watch the file on my TV.
I don't know if it helps, but hopefully someone else can help you out with it. Good luck!

You can convert it to mp4 or mkv. All you need is FLV Extract ( www.videohelp.com/tools/FLV-Extract) and Yamb ( www.videohelp.com/tools/YAMB) for converting to mp4. Here you have a tutorial of how to do it. It seems complicate but once you try it it's easy to do it. The only problem is that sometimes the video is out of synch.

If all else fails give it a go though MPEG Streamclip - www.squared5.com - a very powerful program to convert video to other formats.
