WTF! I thought the album cover was that wall/blue hand thing but no, this is it! The hand thing is the single cover. Jack White has a thing where every single cover goes into the next one. But The hand goes well with the first one(that has some bricks in the background while Jack is shaving). Awful cover art. Wtf? The first one looks like a generic art you can shop in different colors. And the second one...

Before criticising an album cover, one must remember that it can always be worse... I'm looking at you, Kasabian.

The White Stripes were one of the best rock bands ever, The Raconteurs a very solid arena rock band who could really gel together and I dug the Dead Weather's gothic feel.
Hate to say it, but I'm very disappointed with all three of these new songs. Meandering and unfocused with some really bad lyrics. The White Stripes always had a bit of a slyness to them, but this new stuff sounds way too self-important.

I've felt pretty tepid about these new JW songs for a while now but I'm starting to come around again. Fingers crossed for it.

I like the White Stripes but they faded a bit imo after Elephant, how could they ever top that album. The Raconteurs, I definitely preferred that over Dead Weather. Wish White and Benson got it together again and come out with a third album. I've been disappointed with his solo stuff, aside from the odd moment here or there. I don't know he hasn't blown me away since Elephant (I probably get a ton of hate for saying that).

Elephant felt like the album everything before it was building up to. Its not my favorite by him (White Blood Cells or Broken Boy Soldiers would take it for me), but it's without a doubt his magnum opus.

So... what does everyone think of the new record? Big Jack White fan here, having trouble with this one myself. My mate, who is more open to new sounds than me said "Goofy ass noises, it literally was freaking me out"
Thoughts?

I havent listened to it, but Over and Over and Over is a banger, Respect Commander and Corporation are good to great jams, but Connected by Love is dire, Love Ibterruption is a better song written by the same concept.

Currently listening to it, and I guess I enjoy it. The proof is that I haven't paused it or felt bored yet, but on the contrary I can't really single out any track that I think is amazing. Maybe I will be able to later, but right now I'm just liking the mood and the instrumentation.
Edit: The boredom arrived with the last two tracks. But it was kinda cool that Al Capone contributed to this album.

Never gave his music a proper go, but he’s descended from the same Scottish clan as myself (Clan Macpherson). Often see him wearing an emblem of the same tartan as myself.

I like the new direction he took with synthesizers and processed beats, being a great guitarist of course the guitar still is his main instrument, but it is nice to see him going a bit weird.
From the songs I've heard so far: Connected By Love good single, Respect Commando has nice instrumental parts, Over and Over and Over is great, Corporation is a mess, the one I didn't like was Ice Station Zebra.

Some fresh Raconteurs this morning. Digging the first one. Kinda neutral about the second.
