Liam G, voice of an angel. Voice of a generation. Voice gone then back again.
Come back to music.
A fucking musical god!

He tweeted two pictures of an acoustic guitar in a dark room, before he quickly deleted it.

Just found this- Evening Standard Not Liam but Hugh Grant on a time in France where Liz persuaded him to get up with her and a band to do a Frank & Nancy Sinatra number (presumably "Something Stupid") which was such a disaster they were asked to leave the stage! Maybe a duets album with Liam wouldn't have been such a good idea...

¿I'm still trying to figure out who in the fuck Twitter is....? Thanks. It's the new pseudonym for erstwhile Shed Seven frontman Rick Witter, one time Gallagher brothers "most likely to succeed newcomer" rival (1994) and a man whose surname was previously cockney rhyming slang for the lavatory On a side note from that photo how much has the UK changed? Coffee for 20p in Blackpool in 1994, and you just know it would have come in poorly washed crockery....ah the pre Costa and Starf**ks days

I don't have a problem with Liam's Twitter - it's quite cool to see him puncture the pomposity of some, including his brother who mingles with The Scum journalists (not cool Noel).

Liverpool Echo
See point two chap, Mavers told The Independent he was unhappy with the sound from the vintage console on The La's debut because "it hasn't got original Sixties dust on it"- so he still needs some as well before he can rerecord the album!

Great, La. I can see where Mavers was coming from to be honest, there is method in the madness as they say. In the same way I know people who have wanted to use original tape echo systems to get that same 60s sound from their guitars Mavers wanted the same. He wasn't as crazy as people try to claim really. He just wanted an authentic sound and from what i've read studios in the 80s were just not cut out for anyone trying to sound different to the mainstream. Who could blame him for getting frustrated, "The LA's" does have a bit of a hollow overly bright sound if i'm honest. Mavers was obviously looking for that warm inclusive 60s early 70s sound. Not OTT production style just the honest authentic tone. I'd even argue some of the Bunnymen's work was ruined by 80s production. Would sound a lot more authentic if produced today. Oh well.

Oh well. Agreed- I'd go further and say that although some good techniques for producing, for example, dance and rhythm based music were developed in the eighties the introduction of power snares, gated reverb, etc. horribly dated a lot of records and ruined the sound of some great songs.

If anyone is in any doubt as to the quality of the writing from McCulloch check out the set for SPIN magazine: His voice has stood up after all these years. Liam's voice problems must be down to his stance or something... Ian McCulloch smoked (and still does AFAIK) and drinks like a rock star so... it's not the cigs and booze that ruin your voice!
