Curious as to what people make of this case, seems that at the very least there has is some doubt as to the man guilt yet he has been put to death. www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/sep/22/troy-davis-execution-last-wordsI'm against the death penalty in all cases, but if it has to be carried out you would expect the guilt to be beyond all doubt.

There was once a time I supported the death penalty. But no more. Not only is it a barbaric act, but too many mistakes are made. I would like to think we're a better society than this.
Also, I found this reaction disgusting from the other week (at 9 seconds in the video below). If you support the death penalty, that's fine, everyone has different opinions with policy, but cheering the act of killing another human being is just wrong. It's not something that should be celebrated nor should it be a competition, even if supported.
Also, Perry's response is so fucking dumb. Never struggled with it? So much for the compassionate conservative.

perry actively presided over the deaths of hundreds of inmates, including innocents. that's unconscionable. it's unforgivable and barbaric. no man like that should be a leader of anything, let alone a world superpower.
and l4e, if you want to see compassionate conservatives in action, check out the last debate when the audience were cheering the fact that perry was behind the deaths of all those people. (the greatest irony is that they consider themselves "pro-life.")
i'm paraphrasing robin williams here: "compassionate conservatism: i don't know exactly what that means, but it sounds like a volvo with a gun rack."

i dont really know much about the case, but to think somebody was killed despite 'no physical evidence linking him to the scene' its not conclusive enough.

you're right. i got confused between two despicable moments by a republican crowd in the primary debates. the first one was aforementioned. the second is people cheering and hollering when ron paul is asked whether or not the govt should help a sick and uninsured person. (gee, that almost seems like something jesus would have done!)
and this past week in a republican debate, a gay soldier in iraq was booed by the crowd. that's abominable. to spin it back on these hillbilly vaginabags, this soldier is risking his life so these bigoted lowlifes can freely boo him due to their grave misunderstanding of the bible (see the above paragraph).
sometimes, i wish there was a hell for these cretins to go to.
as for santorum, if you could give him an enema, you could keep him in a matchbox.

Just another reason why certain US states are as advanced in social progress as second-world countries like Indonesia and China. I don't understand why the federal government can't just outlaw capital punishment in all states, surely Obama would be against it.

I just don't believe in capital punishment simple as that. I would think life in prison would be worse in some people's opinion anyway
