You all make really good points for and against the quality of the album which I never considered before. I quite like DOYS and agree that it lacks that few more quality tracks that would have driven the rest of the album further. In my opinion, DBTT is a better album. I liked the feel of the songs more. But everyone differs *shrugs

there wasn't one day in the last year, where i thought "oh, i'd like to listen to DOYS now". it isn't a bad album in oasis history. but since it was released, there are more then 10 albums which are better. it was the best to end up oasis, with a great tour and a decent record.

I love DOYS!! It's not the best Oasis album but it still rocks and is certainly better than most crap music out there today There isn't one Oasis album I hate. BHN is my least favourite but that doesn't mean I don't like it DOYS was a great album for them to end on. To me it was like a psychedelic DBTT Shock Of The Lighning was alright, the guitar was sh*t though. But I loved Get Off Your High Horse, The Turning, and Bag It Up

Put it on yesterday. It still sounds fresh to me. Listened to both it and DBTT. They both have this great 60's vibe to them (DBTT has a popy and Kinksy feel to it. Some stones, some Who) while DOYS has a more experimental and trippy sound

Said it before and i'll say it again !
Love Dig out your soul, one of the few albums where i practically love every song. The one i cant stand is 'get off your high horse'. Always heard that Liam left early and didnt record Record Machine and Stop the clocks as they were meant to be on the album. High horse was only going to be a b side.
Still love I'm outta time and i feel Shock of the Lightning is like a vintage wine, just gets better with age ! When i hear the opening to that on TV or somewhere else i just love it. A great tune and a superb album

Couldn't agree more, DOYS is a great album, the only reason people tend to write it off is cause it doesn't have any of the real poppy anthems. Where as DBTT sounded more like a random collection of songs put together on a CD with more of a commercial pop vibe (in a 60s Oasis kinda way.. not that thats a bad thing!), DOYS really (for me anyway) feels like more of a true Rock n Roll record, the songs have more of a connection in their style, dunno how to describe it, maybe a more Bluesy sound n feel. In all honesty though, once the album came out I rinsed it for the first few months, then after that it kinda got forgot about (not that its bad, I did the same with DBTT, the only albums I tend to listen to out of choice are DM, WTSMG? n BHN), but a few months back I randomly decided to chuck on SOTSOG after listenin to some Chemical Bros albums n was lovin it. SOTSOG is nearly as under-rated as DOYS, its a great album that tends to get written off cause it tries to break the mould n is more experimental (in an electronic way this time). But yeah, after listening to a lot of really early mid 60s Small Faces, The Kinks, The Who n Rolling Stones, I've found myself loving DOYS even more! Maybe one day in the future it'll get the wider acceptance is deserves...

i love this album. Not sure how to rank it. Way below the first two. Prob above Be Here Now along with DBTT. HC is still the worst thing ever (i just enjoy inserting that opinion everywhere).
but nature of reality is AWWWFFULL. that reaaaaally needed to be a noel song.

Worst Oasis album by a country mile. Terrible. If this is the sort of stuff they were going to produce then thank god they are finished.
Had a smart cover though.

Six out of the first seven tracks on DOYS are top class, the exception being High Horse Lady. The drop off in quality after Fallin Down is beyond belief and doesnt bode well for Beady Eye. The good tracks on DBTT were spaced out a lot more and made the album sound better as a whole. HC and SOTSOG would better off have been not released cause they were generally poor apart from 2 or 3 songs on both. BHN was well written just badly produced. All in all DOYS was imo the heaviest Oasis sounded since DF and their third best album but this is only my humble opinion

DOYS is way better than HC and possibly better than SOTSOG. With the exception of AGN and TNOR it's a really really good album!

this is the album i'm least familiar with... growing on me... probably in the middle or somewhere in ranks of albums.
No way it's above DBTT

This is a really shite album. Other than the singles released, everything else is pure garbage. I'm Outta Time is one of my favourite Oasis songs, which is its only saving grace.
For the record, my Oasis album ranking is as follows -
1) Be Here Now - undisputed, heavy rock classic, aggressive, loud, over confident and full of swagger.
2) What's the Story - The Greatest Hits era. The album which defined a decade.
3) The Masterplan - so many great songs pissed away as B sides finally get the recognition they long deserved.
4) Heathen Chemistry - controversial with this one, especially as I rank it higher than Definitely Maybe. I doubt many will agree with me here, but I think it has many outstanding tracks, as good as anything from WTS.
5) Definitely Maybe - Overrated now, but rightly rated high on its release. The album is let down by its poor sound recording quality in places. Noel's backing vocals are completely lost on songs like Slide Away, and I think Shakermaker is shite, along with quite a few other songs on the album. Rock N Roll Star, Live Forever, Cigarettes & Alcohol, Slide Away and Supersonic are the best tracks on the album, but none of these songs beat the best songs on WTS or BHN. Had Whatever, Fade Away, Half the World Away and Listen Up made it to the album, I may have had a different opinion.
6) SOTSOG - great opening, then the rest is garbage, except Sunday Morning Call. Gas Panic is just average, and is overrated IMO.
7) DBTT - not overly keen on this one. No real stand out tracks for me, but as a whole the album is still better than DOYS.
8) DOYS - utter shite, with the 3 singles released being the only decent things on the album. A horrible way to end the Oasis career.

I really like DOYS, it has some great tunes on it and is quite possibly my favourite post Be Here Now album (although this changes regularly depending on what mood I'm in).
Bag It Up is a great opener, really really love that tune. It's then followed by an equally good song in The Turning. Waiting For The Rapture is a bit meh, can take or leave that song. The Shock Of The Lightning is a typically good Oasis rocker, love that song. I'm Outta Time is probably my favourite Liam written song, apart from possibly Songbird, it's brilliant. (Get Off Your) High Horse Lady is pretty shit and I'm not really a fan of it although it sort of works as a lead in to Falling Down, which is a great Noel tune and one of his best he's been lead vocal on. The album admittedly does go downhill a bit from here, although I do really like To Be Where There's Life (and actually prefer the album version to the Richard Fearless remix which most others seem to prefer). Ain't Got Nothin' is crap, a poor mans Meaning Of Soul which isn't even that good a song in the first place. The Nature Of Reality is also dire, no idea how that managed to make it through to the album, up there with the worst songs Oasis have ever done (I Can See A Liar, Little James). Soldier On is a nice closer but nothing special really.
In conclusion the album is about 75% good-brilliant, and 25% bad-shite.

I always have mixed feelings about DOYS. I rarely play it past Falling Down, when I do I just skip from Falling Down to Soldier On and leave everything else in between. But the few times I have listened to it all the way through it's not too bad of an album.
I think part of the hate for it is what's not on it (in particular RM, STC, Come On It's Alright (now Come Outside), and Boy with the Blues, rather than what's actually on it. What's actually on the record as a collective is probably a 6.5/10. Not a bad record, but not a great one either.

Lennon2217. Asked me to re- listen when I first got back cause he read my posts being real disappointed , ..so I did and upped it no question ...here's what I think s my real feeling , if it was another band , I would say its a damn good lp ....but as I have said many times , I hold Oasis to a higher standard ( much higher than HFB or bdi ) So I was a bit it like wtf ?? That's it ? That's what I waited for since 05 ?? And was disappointed but if I was here at the beach and someone just turned me on to it and I did not know the band and listened fresh , I would share it on my Facebook page emphasize I'm outta time , and a few others and say this band rocks , check it out ...what's my true feeling ? That's it great for a band not named Oasis , if bdi or HFB made it I'd be thrilled , for Oasis my opinion improved thanks to the re listen , best I can do .

My 2nd or 3rd favourite Oasis album, tied with Be Here Now. I love it probably because it flows so well as an album.

Listened to it a few days ago, and its not as bad as people made out to be, its just not as good as DM, WTSMG, BHN, SOTSOG (which i think is one of their best records) and DBTT. Its about the same ranking as Heathen Chemistry for me, and I like heathen chemistry, its just not as good as the others.
TM is not really an album to me, it doesnt flow well, great songs on it though.

Bag It Up The Turning Waiting For The Rapture The Shock Of The Lightning I'm Outta Time Falling Down Soldier On
^^For me, they're all brilliant songs and that's more than half the album right there. I also have a soft spot for "High Horse Lady", I just love the simplicity of it with those pounding drums. The rest of the record is either okay (To Be Where There's Life) or pretty dull/pointless (The Nature Of Reality, Ain't Got Nothin') so I really like the album.
I just think they (Noel) got carried away with trying to keep the theme/sound going throughout. They could've easily dropped the weaker songs and added different sounding songs (but better songs) from Andy and Gem here and there and the album still would've sounded cohesive - (ie Four Letter Word, The Roller or something else from them, I'm sure they would've had better tunes at the time)
Also, I think a lot of the true die-hard fans look at this album/era feel kinda sad because it ended up being their last - and plus that tour was horrid for the most part and this plays it's part on how we look at the album aswell IMO.
