While Oasis was underrated in the US, they were overrated in the UK... They made shit music after BHN Yeah the quality did drop but "shit" is a really harsh word for it.. I would say some of the stuff they put out post BHN was excellent.. of course it was only a few tracks per album, but excellent none the less.. The biggest problem for oasis was that music changed to dramatically by the time SOTSOG came out that the type of music they were putting out was 1) not as good as pre BHN and 2) not what young ppl wanted to listen to.. not to mention their attitudes etc. Bands that stay popular well passed their prime are bands like green day who either a) comletely sellout or b) change their style to suite what is currently popular. Madonna is the BEST in the business @ that..

Critics hate on Oasis because unlike dickhead bands like Coldplay and Radiohead, they actually put out music that their fans wanted to hear, as opposed to "progress" for the sake of it.
I remember the NME review of Be Here Now, the guy saying something like "how dare they release this in the same year as Radiohead, Prodigy...", well, maybe because something like Stand By Me pisses on anything Radiohead have ever recorded?

i dont think that it is "cool"to slag them off. it was cool short after bhn/sotsog. after that the popularity went down to the fundament of the fanbase. a huge fanbase, but its not a band like coldplay, which has followers who buy their cds like a guy goes into a mcdonalds:"oh, nice ai got appetite for a chesseburger". there are not many bands who have a lifelong loyal fanbase like oasis have. critcwise: the are slated, rated mediocre or hyped like every other band during the last 10 years.with one exception:people were always dissapointed that they got no next morning glory again....but who cares? other things are true: in some countries they are completely ignored by the media. if the media in europe, japan or southamerica pay good attention to them every tuime they went on tour or rerleased an album it is weird that usa or australia really seem to care a shit about them. besides the surpising fact that they play relatively huge venues over there. ok, short: they are not "hated", there are enoug young indiefans who like them, give respect to them, yes, you can see them even in their concerts(most band which are in the business more than 15 years do not really have that -agewise-heterogenic audience.

I think that now that Oasis is no more there is going to be a lot more respect for the band. This.
