Yes, it's still early. And yes, even Reagan had lower approval ratings. But I just can't see Obama getting re-elected. He came into office only because people were tired of Bush and the Republicans, just like Jimmy Carter, and for no other reason. 2008 was a vote against Bush and note a vote for liberal policies. Obama may not have bribed America (even though he may have tried with Sestak! ) but he conned his way into office. Hope and change? Transparent presidency? All rhetoric. All bullshit. In 2 years what have we gotten? An apology tour, terrorism funding cut for NYC, weakened foreign policy with the nuclear posturing, health care reform that majority of Americans are against done with shady politics, failed stimulus package, faltering economy and high unemployment for at least half of his first term, incompetent reaction over the oil spill which is having severe ramifications, the Sestak scandal, not making any productive progress on immigration reform massive increase in national deficit, giving terrorists - even if not American citizens - Miranda rights..... ....and of course still involved in 2 wars, and Gitmo still hasn't been closed (which I'm fine with, but this clown promised to close it by January 2009!) Let's remove Jimmy Carter Barack Obama and elect Ronald Reagan Mitt Romney. All joking aside, Obama is the worst and weakest president since Carter. No way is he getting re-elected.

Didn't the last president involve you in those wars? The oil spill is a result of a change in the rules overseen by the last administration. BP assured the admin that safety checks were 'unecessary'. The global meltdown is not Obama's fault. You are an awful human being.

but i have to say, buttcheeks, great timing. really. you've had it in for obama since before he was even president. that's for just one obvious reason: he's a democrat. you openly wished for him to fail in his first week. people like you want this crisis to happen... and to continue.
due to this crisis, people's lives are in danger via the toxic fumes and industries, businesses and jobs are being destroyed more and more each day. we're in the worst environmental disaster in modern american history. that's right--worse than the exxon valdez disaster. and all you care about is making sure our president looks bad. compassionate conservatism my ass.

This guy is a disaster. Don't give me this BS about "he inherited this" I will say that YES he inherited the Iraq crap, but Afghanistan in my opinion was legit. We needed to go after that prick Bin Laden. The world economy was going down the shitter at the same time as ours.
This president has done little to stimulate our economy. The small business owners of this country have kept it going on their own.

Afganistan did start before the obama administration, and while I think it is a far more worthy cause you can't pin it on him. From what I have seen he has done great deal to stimulate your economy, propped up banks and such like. There's not a lot anyone can do right now.

This president has done little to stimulate our economy. The small business owners of this country have kept it going on their own. fair enough. but you must admitt that money to stimulate the economy isn't something that grows on trees... If the state gives money to stimulate, it either has to raise taxes, cut spendings (wich is most of the time the exact opposite of a stimulating spending) or raise the deficit. And sorry, but as necessary afghanistan might have been: War is damn expensive. Probably you shouldn't vote for the arms dealers CEOs next time and then small businesses might get their piece of the cake instead of blowing it all up in iraq.

I think the criticism here is incredibly misguided. I want him to do well enough so the entire US doesn't go to shit, but of course I want him to fail overall. If he's successful, then he's implementing policies that I don't agree with and ones that I think will actually hurt the nation. So it only makes sense that I hope the soon-to-be Republican senate filibusters every damn liberal piece of legislation. What happened to bi-partisanship (never really achievable, sadly the general public don't know that and are swayed by rhetoric). What happened to transparency? Looks like Obama was full of shit in 2008 (of course he was, he was a regular candidate running for office, trying to portray himself as something different. Again, the US was conned into electing him). I don't want to spend time on Bush because this isn't about him. But to respond to your allegations: 1. Afghanistan was the right thing to do, but with Obama increasing troops it's now his war. Enough said 2. We've had the Iraq debate countless of times, and things are looking better there since the 2008 surge. So when Iraq is fully stable, AQ in Iraq is decimated further, and there's political sustainability, I hope you give Bush the credit then.....Regardless, Gore would have invaded both Afghanistan and Iraq too after 9/11, he was the national builder for crying out loud! 3. Obama should have learnt from Bush's Katrina mistakes. But one thing saves Bush more than Obama and that is in the case of Katrina Bush had the Mayor and Governor superseding his authority. Regardless, FEMA fucked up, as did Bush with respect to PR. Obama is repeating the same mistakes with this oil spill and it will undo his presidency just as Katrina helped undo Bush's. 4. Obama has outspent Bush already! ALREADY. Re-read that again. This time slowly and out loud. ("Obama, according to OMB, will run deficits that average 7.05 percent of GDP—or more than twice the average deficits under Bush." - CNSNews.com) Compassionate conservative? Yes sir. (Actually more of a moderate when it comes to domestic issues, mind). I think he's the worst president since Carter and I want his party voted out in 2010 and him out in 2012 so this country can prosper once again. Nothing wrong with that. And stop trying to have it both ways. Go re-visit how Bush was treated. Pointing out and disagreeing with facts and policies, ie what I'm doing, is not even close to the far left at DailyKos, Moveon.org, and Michael Moore and his cohorts did to Bush. If you're going to dish it out, then I'd expect you to take it, too. Stop with the double standards.

i'm gonna try to keep this as short as i can.
obama's been trying to clean up bush's many, many messes. you simply can't expect things to get better one day after his inauguration, especially when you have a united opposition that wants nothing more than to undermine everything he does.
the afghani war is now the longest war in american history. it's longer than vietnam. it started in 2002, less than 15% into bush's presidency. he could have finished all the objectives during his administration, and he didn't.
it's incredulous for you to suggest that bush's biggest mistake during katrina was his pr handling. either way, obama should get every bit of criticism (and a whole lot more) with his hiring of ken salazar, an oil man. but it was bush (specifically cheney's) deregulation of offshore drilling that allowed this to happen. in fact, it all goes back to him... halliburton was among the builders of deepwater horizon.
you're right that obama has already outspent bush, but this is a half-truth because the biggest stimulus packages passed during bush's last few months. if obama passes a stimulus bill for a billion dollars during his administration's final month--that's still on him, not his successor.
i remember quite well how bush was treated. the "far left" didn't WANT bush to fail. they were sickened by the horrifically bad job he did during his eight years in the white house. the only place they wanted him to fail at was in the voting booths. even the anti-war protestors never wanted our country or our president to fail. they simply disagreed with the wars and the bush policies.
meanwhile, there have been more threats on obama's life in his first year than bush's entire presidency. and as much as you saw protestors organized by moveon et al., you rarely saw them with guns just feet away from congressmen. you rarely saw them spitting at or yelling racist epithets at their congressmen. hell, look at what happened to the dixie chicks for just saying they were ashamed that bush was from texas! i guess "love it or leave it" or "you're with us or the terrorists" only matters when there's a republican in office. when a democrat becomes president, it's now patriotic to dissent against him! THAT'S the double standard.
you think he's the worst president since carter because you've had it out for him since he became president. you never gave the guy a chance. within the first week, you posted up on here that you wanted him to fail.
you asking what happened to bipartisanship might be the dumbest thing you've ever written. during the healthcare debate, something that should have taken a few months took up over a year. i wonder why that was...
also, have you ever noticed that for every fuckup of obama's, there's a bush fuckup that's ten times worse?

The only thing I blame Clinton for is 9/11. And I think that's right. He had ample chances to kill OBL. And in his book he even stated he was partly focused on getting forgivness from his family, and partly focused on AQ. Whether you agree with Clinton's impeachment or not, surely we both can agree that he would have been better off focusing soely on AQ!!!!. But the economic bust cant also be brought back to him. So can Katrina. Have I made those arguments? No. So let's be fair. Bush was faced with more problems than Clinton, so again, stop with the double standards. We're also approaching 2 years into Obama, Bush is no longer an excuses. Bush dealt with Clinton's problems and, along with the rally effect (I'm not totally naivee) was able to garner the highest approval rating of any president EVER. Obama has failed. He focused on health care when the public wanted jobs. He focused on apology tours when the public wanted toughness on terrorism. He focused on being inept when the country wanted proper immigration reform. He focused on trying to be 'cool' and 'no drama obama' when the public wanted action on the oil spill. He said he was a new 'transparent politician' but won't revel the Sestak deal, even if it is totally legal. This man is a failure. He's as weak as Carter. He's weakening the US. He was voted in for the exact same reasons. And he'll be voted out in 4 years time (now 2 years) for the exact same reasons. The Democrats had the opportunity to dominate for the next decade+ coming off of 2008. How they fucked it all up has to go down in history.Unbelievable decline.

Oh and NYR, why didn't people want Bush to fail? Because the country is still center-right! Obama, the moron, thought his victory in 2008 was the public wishing for liberal policies. We've seen countless times already how wrong that stance is. 2008 was a vote against Bush and not a vote against conservatism nor a vote for liberalism.
As for tom, once again (how many times do I have to say it) of course I want him to fail because I don't want to see such liberal, mindless policies enacted.
Everyone has gone complacent since 9/11, and I attribute that to the passing of time, but that doesn't excuse Obama's naivete. "Over seas contingency plans" instead of the "War on Terror"/"Militant Islam"? failing to call Fort Hood terrorism until months later? Failing to call the problem what it actually is - Islamic Extremism? Cutting counter-terrorism funding for NYC? Fuck off. This administration is so petty that he does all it can to distance itself from Bush, irregardless of how much it hurts the US. The moment he went on his apology tour last year was the moment he became Jimmy Carter.
It's no wonder that in recent years intel agencies have stated we're now back to a pre-9/11 mentality. But hey, I guess if you don't use a blanket for the last hour of a flight you'll be safe! Unbelievable.

if the country was center-right, then mccain would be president and the republicans would have won the house and the senate. as for airplanes, i'll leave this to georgie: megavideo.com/?v=I7JH26JANope. McCain would have lost no matter how good his campaign was, no matter the rhetoric he spouted, and even if he didn't pick Palin as his running mate. No Republican would have won in 2008. That's why I'm glad Romney didn't get the nomination as he would have been crushed. Instead, he now has a great shot at 2012. In my political science classes I was taught that campaigns don't matter in presidential elections (that's not entirely true - if only one candidate runs a campaign and the other doesn't then there will be a significant effect, campaigns also matter in very close elections ie Bush v Gore. However, for the most part, campaigns don't make a massive difference) There are two main indicators to who is elected: 1. The incumbents popularity (Bush was tanking in the approval polls) 2. The economy (The economy was a disaster in 2008, as we all know) Taking these 2 elements into consideration, there was no way a Democrat wouldn't win. Even John Kerry would have won in 2008. Bush won the election for Obama just as Nixon won the election for Carter. I really do think the Carter analogy holds up really well......

all i'm saying is that if the country was center-right, the people would have voted for a center-right candidate, and that the rnc or dnc would have picked a center-right candidate. that didn't happen.
what i'm saying is that the country isn't anything. that's why this is one of the greatest countries in history--because we are everything. the american public simply picks the best candidate that the rnc and dnc can come up with every four years.
nobody puts baby in a corner!
