The only star? How dare you! A bit disrespectful to footballing heavyweights like Garry Kenneth (literally in his case) and Andis Shala... Now now now. Big Gary is a dyed-in-the-wool shed boy, I'll no have a bad word said about the big man. Now strutting his stuff in the lower leagues in Australia! Shala was probably one of the worst players to ever wear tangerine, and that is some feat giving some of the shite we've had over the years. He did score against Rangers (RIP) in the silver kissing run of 2010 however.

To me, Johan Cruijff is the best ever. Holland played very good at the worldcup in 1974 I'll go with this! Not just a great player, but greatly influenced the ways of many football clubs with the same philosophy of football. He pretty much put in place the philosophy of Barca that we see today, in addition to the Ajax model.

well if we're judging by more than just the play on the pitch (ala cruyff) then my pick is definitely 'der kaiser', franz beckenbauer. won a world cup as a player & coach (one of only two people to accomplish this), pretty much invented the sweeper role, countless trophies at bayern (including three consecutive european cups) and set up bayern as the powerhouse it is today through his work as president...also greatly influential in the way the current national squad is set up. cruyff is in my top 5 players of all time (probably 3rd), but his legacy is a little tarnished by not having won at least one of those world cups in the 70s. altho 1974 remains (for me) the greatest ever world cup final.

I think you'll find Federer 04-07 is god, closely followed by Noel Gallagher 94-97.

I think Beckenbaur is a fair shout, though Cruyff never having won a World Cup shouldn't be held against him considering how small a country the Netherlands is - their achievements at club level - and international too in fairness - probably makes them the greatest over achievers in the history of the sport. That said, I do understand where you are coming from at the same time - that Netherlands squad from 1974 was amazing and arguably stronger than the Germany side they were up against.

Zlatan is the best player in the world Dinghies. They boy has unbelievable ability but he never shows up in big games. He might as well have sat in the stand against Barcelona a few weeks back.
