They're recording the new album now, which is said to be more acoustic and less commercial than previous efforts and it will be ready for release next year. Can't wait for this one.

I can already hear it being dubbed a 'return to form'.

this is very good news. Maybe they can make something that can stand up to Parachutes. Not dissing the other records but that one is by far their best IMO.

this is very good news. Maybe they can make something that can stand up to Parachutes. Not dissing the other records but that one is by far their best IMO. I love all Coldplay albums, apart from X&Y which is middle of the road for me. For me, I rate them: 1. A Rush of Blood To The Head 2. Viva La Vida (interchangeable with Parachutes) 3. Parachutes 4. X&Y Viva La Vida would be number one, but to be honest with you, I'm no fan of the song Viva La Vida itself - it's a good song, but it was overplayed to a hellish extent, and I dunno, something about it's less interesting than the other songs. I still think Cemetries of London is one of the best songs they've ever done, and considering the best songs on Viva La Vida were not really commercial, then I really look forward to the new album.

What I mean is that. Parachutes in my mind is a classic. AROBTH is brilliant, VLV is good and X&Y has its moments. They constantly make good records its just I think Parachutes is amazing. And with the news that they are kinda of returning to this sound I'm more pumped than usual.

I liked alot the first 2 albums, X&Y I like couple of tunes, Viva la vida bores me to death, for me in Viva la Vida their music ideas were not natural but forced. Not a big fan of the band so i might be wrong I guess..

Not a big fan, but I always give their albums a spin at least the first time around. And why not? At least they don't take for fucking ever to make albums.

These guys haven't put out a bad album yet. While I definitely like some more than others, there's always something that sticks with me after a few listens, even on my least favorite, X&Y.
Better than most shit out there anyway. Kinda sad it's come to that point though.

Im no fan, never been, but on every album they released, there was at least one single that i REALLY enjoyd. Yellow, The Scientist, Fix you, Lost. So yeah, i can safely say theres gonna be one good song on the radio next year..
btw, Anyone ever noticed The Scientist has almost the same melody as "I will show you"?

i guess they're scared of losing fans by taking a break or that they might wanna end their career so they're getting through releasing albums quicker to finish of their record contract, the tracks are probably left over tracks anyway.

The tracks had probably been written and demoed a while ago, but didn't fit with Viva La Vida. You're right in that they are probably doing this because they don't want to lose their hardcore fanbase by becoming a stadium rock band. By being 'less commercial' and more interesting, I admire the strategy as it is rewarding the real music lovers. I'm not wanting Kid A pretentiousness though, but Coldplay have never come across as snobby anyway, so that's good.

The more ambient coldplay are the better. Hopefully Eno will produce it.
