It would be a damn good and excellent album though, with those 3 changes. They should have just made it a killer EP with 7-8 tracks. Very Radiohead/LedZeppelin. The less is more approach. 1. Bag It Up 2. The Turning 3. Waiting For The Rapture 4. The Shock of The Lightning 5. I'm Outta Time 6. Falling Down 7. Boy With The Blues We would have all bitched about the album being only 7 tracks, though. Lose-lose.

But in my "alternate" 2008, nobody is complaining about bum notes and shit tunes. Our ears win.

DOYS is one of my favorite Oasis CDs. I would have put "Boy with the Blues" on it instead of "Soldier On" and "The Nature of Reality." Wish Liam had sung "Waiting for the Rapture", though.

Soldier on is a fantastic song, makes the album much better imo. They should have sped up Ain't got nothin a bit more too.
TSOTL, Falling down, Soldier on, I'm outta time, Ain't got nothin, To be where there's life..
A great album but nothing amazing in comparison to their best ones.
The shock of the lightning is the highlight of the album imo, never expected a song like this from Oasis. Amazing song!

There isnt much to the lyrics but its easily the best song after tracks 1-5 & 7. Throw in Record Machine or Stop the Clocks and its easily their best album since BHN.

The live version is fantastic. The album version is ok. The live version elevates the song to where it should be. Would be one of the highlights if that's how they recorded it. And they should have most certainty used the live outro, too. That outro could have become their "I Am the Resurrection", with the band jamming in the outro like that. The live outro is so fucking cool. And it would have the "Columbia"/"Be Here Now" (track) of the album, too. Missed opportunity.

Just played The turning to my dad and he liked it..coming from a guy who hates wonderwall and a lot of their old music, and is into Pink Floyd, Eric clapton etc..i'd say thats a positive note for DOYS I think this album appealed to the die hard Oasis fans and the 'older' music fans since liams voice and their music sounds more mature

I'm really getting back into this album. The first four tracks are easily the strongest.
It may be strange, but I can't stand Falling Down. I also view High Horse Lady as one of the highlights.

The Richard Fearless remix version of To be Where There's Life makes me wonder why didn't they worked out the issues on the album that was supposed to be released in 2004(not that I don't dislike DBTT but wow that remix is almost the live version that the band played in tour).

Listening to High Horse Lady right now, why the fuck is Noel's voice so horrible? And what's with the monster drum beat drowning out the entire song?

I still can't get over that this album is over 5 years old? I still remember the build up and the photos from the Abbey Road sessions. I was super pumped. Later I was super let down.

I still can't get over that this album is over 5 years old? I still remember the build up and the photos from the Abbey Road sessions. I was super pumped. Later I was super let down. Yeah it was an exciting time for sure. DOYS is solid. It can be really trying to get through though. Hear's my experience listening to it now. Tracks 1-8 are sequenced nicely. The first half ( 1-4) is superb. A really strong four song run. One of the best in the bands catalog. I'm Outta Time is a bland lennonish track. Liam has done a lot better. These four tracks are in a another league and this is when the album starts to lose a little bit of steam. The album picks up with (Get Off Your) High Horse Lady, its got a good groove and it is always nice to see Noel dip his feet into something else. Falling Down is pretty great and is the last highlight of the album. To Be Where There's Life is solid enough. I like the bass part, would have been great if it was like the live version but it is a solid enough track. Tracks 1-8 are sequenced nicely. None of those track are bad. I'm outta time and To Be Where There's Life are the weakest. Now this is where the album gets painful. AGN and TNOR are really bland. By the time I survive these two I just don't feel like listening to the rest of the album. These two coupled together just kill any momentum that the album had. Solider On is a decent closer. I'd rate it similar to To Be Where There's Life in terms of enjoyment, but after the last two tracks I'm just left disappointed. It is a solid album but it could have been much better.

AGN and TNOR have no business on that album at all. - Record Machine - Stop The Clocks - Boy With The Blues - Come On Outside

I have a feeling they let Gem and Andy have a song in order for them to get a bigger share in royalties. I mean Noel has to know TNOR is a shit tune, same as Keep the dream alive.

I honestly loved this album when it came out, for me it blew the memories of HC away and was much better than DBTT. However it has declined rapidly in my estimation.
The first half is incredible, the best opening collection of tracks since MG but the second half is dire. The thing which annoys me most is Noel has come out and said STC and Record Machine were ready for this album but Liam was being lazy or something so they decided to release it anyway without them (would Liam have even sang STC's?!). My point is why release something for the sake of it when you know it's not the best you can do??? So what if it takes a few months extra? If it makes the album better then do it!
Just shows how little they gave a shit

DIg Out Your Soul is my 3rd favourite Oasis record........after Definitely Maybe (#1) and Be Here Now (#3).
i'm personally sick of people berating it. "Soldier On" is THE finest closure to any band's discography i know of.....i fookin love that tune.

The lights of the party dimming. One gulp of alcohol left.

I think he mean that that is the best closing song from last album of some band. Oh.......I see. My comprehension skills are shit today. I'd have to disagree though, "Get Back" by The Beatles is a better final track than "Soldier On". Even if you want to say that "Get Back" was recorded before Abbey Road well then "The End" is a better send off than "Soldier On". I think The Beatles got this one locked up. Also don't sleep on Pavement's "Carrot Rope" to end Twilight Terror.
