29/08/09 Dearly beloved, it is with a heavy heart and a sad face that I say this to you this morning. As of last Friday the 28th August, I have been forced to leave the Manchester rock'n'roll pop group Oasis. The details are not important and of too great a number to list. But I feel you have the right to know that the level of verbal and violent intimidation towards me, my family, friends and comrades has become intolerable. And the lack of support and understanding from my management and band mates has left me with no other option than to get me cape and seek pastures new. I would like firstly to offer my apologies to them kids in Paris who'd paid money and waited all day to see us only to be let down AGAIN by the band. Apologies are probably not enough, I know, but I'm afraid it's all I've got. While I'm on the subject, I'd like to say to the good people of V Festival that experienced the same thing. Again, I can only apologise - although I don't know why, it was nothing to do with me. I was match fit and ready to be brilliant. Alas, other people in the group weren't up to it.
In closing I would like to thank all the Oasis fans, all over the world. The last 18 years have been truly, truly amazing (and I hate that word, but today is the one time I'll deem it appropriate). A dream come true. I take with me glorious memories.
Now, if you'll excuse me I have a family and a football team to indulge. I'll see you somewhere down the road. It's been a fuckin' pleasure. Thanks very much. Goodbye. NG.

When he said, "Other people in the band weren't up for it." I think he was just talking about Liam. I doubt he had any issues with Andy and Gem. I could be wrong, but I just think he didn't want to mention Liam by name . . .

Tbh I don't think he'd be talking in plural if he didn't mean it in an announcement like this is.

I know Gem and Andy aren't part of the sibling thing that noel and liam have but I really would have expected them to voice some kind of opinion and be the reasonable and steady pair that they have seemed to have been through out this past 10 years.

I found the singling out of 'bandmates' a bit shocking too. I'm not sure about Andy, but Gem and Noel were always close. He would be the one with him for the acoustic preformances and there's the stories of the DOYS demo's being recorded by the both of them in Gem's bedroom or something like that. Andy I've never been sure of. Noel did have slight pops at him in his blog (something about ear-plugs weren't it?) and I know Liam said somewhere in a interview that along with him, Bell wasn't best pleased with Noel and Gem buggering off to do the Stop the Clocks tour without him. Hasn't it been said that he lives close to Liam too, so they would be the better friends? Still, I pick on Andy here, Gem was friendly to Liam too helping him out with a lot of his songs. Howevre I think the chances of Gem would stand up to either Liam or Noel is as much as Andy would, i.e not at all. Given the past of histories of members, it wouldn't be wise to go against them and get kicked out of one of the biggest bands in the world would it? I wouldn't, thats for sure.
Then again, I suppose in the days to come with this truth its about as easy to blame Gem and Andy for Noel leaving Oasis as that doctor is the death of Michael Jackson (two way different extremes, I know, but best example I could think of at this moment).

I've just read some of Noel's "Tales from the middle of nowhere" again and I'm wondering why Noel has such a problem with fans wanting to take a photo with him. I mean, can't he understand that it's an extraordinary situation for a fan? An experience he or she wants to record by taking a photo. As much as I like Noel....it's not a big effort, even if it can be annoying sometimes.
Has anybody experienced a situation like that? Or maybe the opposite?

I hate having my photo taken so I fully sympathise with Noel. Photos only serve to hinder the experience not help remember it

I don't really like that either, but if you're Noel Gallagher and a hero to your fans it shouldn't be such a problem. Well, it's just my opinion...

^If you are that big enough fan of Noel's that not getting a picture would affect you that much it's not like it should come as a shock to you that he says no.
I personally don't mind.
TBF...with camera phones everywhere I wonder if any of us understand what it would be like to be asked for a photo everytime you step out of your house for any length of time...let alone when you are doing promo and fans actually seek you out.
Maybe back before the camera phone I would have a different opinion but whatever

I can understand - think about every time you go out to do some shopping, and you're constantly stopped. It would become a huge annoyance for that to occur almost on a daily basis for 15 years! But it does come with the package of being a celebrity.....

He does do them occassionally...I just don't think that he feels obligated. "You bought my music so I have to do a picture"
He shouldn't be rude but I think a fan should be satisfied with what he is willing to give...even if it's only a few words.
Just out of curiousity...what do people do with napkins and stuff that celebrities sign? I'm a bit in concordance with Noel in respect to stuff like that. I mean...a signed CD, photo, etc is one thing...but I don't get the point of the random scrawled signature on a piece of rubbish.

^^ yeah a scrap of paper means nothing tbh. A signed pic or album with a dedication is something worth treasuring. I'd love my guitar signed by the chief and id rather go for a pint with him and chat shite than get a pic of/with him.

I don't think I would ask for the signature or photo if only in the hope that he would be in the mood to chat for a bit...and I am guessing that the autograph/pic question would probably be the kiss of death for any interaction with Noel. Plus I don't carry around anything that I think that it would be worth Noel signing and I hate pictures myself. He'd probably end up looking fine (if grumpy) in the photo...and I would look like a moron and so I would never been able to display it.

I've got an autograph of the footballer Joe Ledley on a Pizza Hut serviette, and he's recently signed for Celtic. Now this is completely worthless to me now of course but I can only imagine the awkwardness as a little 12 year old asked for him to sign this red piece of paper, ha.
