I always thought Liam got too much credit; people on this forum (and Oasis fans in general) are/were so obsessed with Liam and I could never figure out why. He has a distinctive voice, but Noel's voice is quality and he's the one who wrote the songs. Noel meant way more to Oasis than Liam ever did. I've always thought that. I don't know what forums you've been at but generally ~80% of fans side with Noel in about everything. I'm not going to details now, really not in the mood but I'm just saying, Noel is not a saint, Liam has acted and can act childlike way but there's reasons there and many of them are Noel given. As for mattering, I'm not gonna go listing now Liam's contributions in great detail(image, attitude, voice, songs, last proper rockstar) but saying, together they're a lot more than 1+1=2. I'm not that excited about Noel solo at all. Surely it's going to be nice music most likely but this band is something nothing else has been. Noel will never be alone what he was with Liam. And Liam will never be alone what he was with Noel. Personally, I admit Noel has contributed musically more than Liam did but as a whole, as a band, and band is more than just a music, they both have been equally important. A band that truly matters gives you so much more than just the music, it gives you attitude, way to look at things, hope, strenght and something to believe in. I'm saying that people/Oasis fans always overrate Liam because they're obssessed with his attitude, his style, his antics (usually), etc. I remember people on this forum went nuts when I said that Liam's voice was overrated and he can't sing anymore. There were people actually saying Liam sang better than Kelly Jones. I'm not here to start an argument about Liam vs Noel. I'm just saying my peace. And my comments have nothing to do with what currently went down. I'm not blaming Liam at all for what happened. I'm just rambling about my thoughts on the band and because I see a lot of people all of a sudden turning on Liam, when just a couple of days ago they were all about him. Bottom line: Liam was always overappreciated and Noel was always underappreciated.

29/08/09 Dearly beloved, it is with a heavy heart and a sad face that I say this to you this morning. As of last Friday the 28th August, I have been forced to leave the Manchester rock'n'roll pop group Oasis. The details are not important and of too great a number to list. But I feel you have the right to know that the level of verbal and violent intimidation towards me, my family, friends and comrades has become intolerable. And the lack of support and understanding from my management and band mates has left me with no other option than to get me cape and seek pastures new. I would like firstly to offer my apologies to them kids in Paris who'd paid money and waited all day to see us only to be let down AGAIN by the band. Apologies are probably not enough, I know, but I'm afraid it's all I've got. While I'm on the subject, I'd like to say to the good people of V Festival that experienced the same thing. Again, I can only apologise - although I don't know why, it was nothing to do with me. I was match fit and ready to be brilliant. Alas, other people in the group weren't up to it.
In closing I would like to thank all the Oasis fans, all over the world. The last 18 years have been truly, truly amazing (and I hate that word, but today is the one time I'll deem it appropriate). A dream come true. I take with me glorious memories.
Now, if you'll excuse me I have a family and a football team to indulge. I'll see you somewhere down the road. It's been a fuckin' pleasure. Thanks very much. Goodbye. NG.

I wore my one and only Oasis shirt today as a mark of respect. My sister got it for my birthday last October.
I will keep it, but will never wear it again - unless they reform, of course.
I will also never forget how I felt when I found out this news on August 29, 2009. I may forget that specific date, but August 2009 I won't, nor the emotions attached. This has hit me hard.

It's the end. It's all over. But here we're left speculating, hoping, and unsure if Oasis will ever exist again. That uncertainty is what makes all this hard for everyone.

Maybe you don't care as much as I, or some others do on here, and that's fine. But for you to underrate how much this band meant to me and thus also underrate how much this split effects me is misguided at the very least. Speak for yourself and not others. Thanks.

(some might say they had a bit too much of an impact.) overreacting about it isn't going to change anybody's mind. If this is the end of Oasis it sucks. And it hurts. And no matter what gf i ever have and break up with, I will never feel this low. This is a massive slit on my wrist. This band meant so much to me. my point exactly.
