Oh, and thanks for the credible insight! Never again will I take an official statement at face value.

Oh, and thanks for the credible insight! Never again will I take an official statement at face value. It wasn't meant as a pop mate, just a little joke. You couldn't possibly have predicted what was gonna happen.

Oasis split... but mum says little by little my boys will play together againThey may think they have broken up the band for good… but Liam and Noel Gallagher’s long-suffering Mum knows better. With the rock world reeling from Noel’s exit from Oasis, yesterday Peggy Gallagher did her best to soothe the rift by insisting: “Liam adores Noel.” Songwriter Noel, 42, quit the band on Friday night after a punch-up with Liam, 36, just minutes before they were due to headline a rock festival in Paris. Liam is reported to have smashed a guitar and yelled at Noel: “You’re no brother of mine!” The fight is said to have become so violent that at one stage an ambulance was called. But mum Peggy yesterday revealed another side to Liam, who’s known for his “hardman” image. She told the Sunday Mirror: “They do love each other, but they’ve always been very different. The funny thing is, they didn’t fight as children. They didn’t fight until they started the band. “I hope this isn’t the end of Oasis. I don’t think it is. They’re just tired at the end of the tour. They’ve had fights before and got over it.” But last night Noel seemed to hint the split was final. In a clear attack on Liam, he wrote on the Oasis website: “The level of verbal and violent intimidation towards me, my family, friends and comrades has become intolerable.” He then thanked fans for “the last 18 years”, saying it had been “a dream come true”. He went on: “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a family and a football team to indulge. I’ll see you somewhere down the road. It’s been a f****n’ pleasure. Thanks very much. Goodbye. NG.” The Manchester band – who had a No2 hit in 2002 with Little By Little – were discovered in 1993 by Creation Records boss Alan McGee, who also predicts the brothers will get back together. He said: “They won’t talk for a while. They’ll take two years out and hopefully they’ll be fine.” www.mirror.co.uk/celebs/news/2009/08/30/oasis-split-but-mum-says-little-by-little-my-boys-will-play-together-again-115875-21633901/

I honestly do think that the advent of the internet has made this worse. Obviously a lot of us were either too young and/or not die hard fans in 1996 and 2000 when similar threats of break ups happened, but even if you were you had limited access to information as the internet was barely in existence then. I don't know if this is the last straw or not. But once again, if this was 1996 and we had access to the internet we would be acting exactly as we are now. And yet everything blew over. Now we have access to internet, daily thoughts, blogs, forums, news, etc etc......it makes it seem worse than it may really be. Because of Oasis' history, there's a chance this will blow over too. But sadly, I'm thinking Noel doesn't want to be embarassed again by rejoining after quitting and this is really it. But 2-3 years is a long time, they're brothers, it's been a long tour, so there's also a good chance that given time both will get bored and forgive eachother and Oasis will be back. My mind prepares me for the worst and that's why I feel awful, but thank god for that glimmer of hope - as small as it may be.

It wasn't meant as a pop mate, just a little joke. You couldn't possibly have predicted what was gonna happen. Yeah, I know. No harm done.

It must have taken some time to find this 5 years old thread. I just used the convenient search to look for posts during the days before and after the breakup, to see reactions.
