They don't have to be the best on the album and the worst on the album, it's based on your opinion. (IE, don't just say HHL is your strongest grower jsut bc u like it slightly more and it gets the shit kicked out of it by everyone else)
For me
Grower: Waiting for the Rapture - I always liked it, but it's grown to be one of my favorites. It's just amazing how it builds and builds. The lyrical drug trip story is fantastic. This is up there with IOBI for me as one of Noel's best tunes recently
Shrinker: Tied - Falling Down and The Turning
Falling Down: I loved from the second we heard the remix. The lyrics are up there with Noel's best and I still love the song, but it's so flat. It could have been so much better.
The Turning: I once claimed this as the best song since the 90s. While again I love TT, I've backed off it a bit. Hell, even TSOTL excites me more - at times, mind. ----
I would have added IOT to the mix, but I never rated that song as highly as most. I always felt it was a bit undeveloped - and the Lennon clip isn't just inaudible, it's tacky and not needed. Stop with the lennon tributes, Liam.
Still a very strong album, mind. So hard to choose from BHN, DBTT, and DOYS.......Depends on my mood.

good topic
Grower: Waiting For The Rapture- Just like you I always like the tune. But it's becoming one of my favorite Noel sung songs not just of this decade but ever. Its got the stomp of MF and FON but with a brilliant melody like TIOBI.
Shrinker: I'm Outta Time- I had high hopes for this one. Its got a great vocal from Liam and some great music to flow along with it and the refrain at the end is top.. But lyrically the song could have been better (still not bad for Liam) and the overall structure seems like its incomplete. Its a good song but its not up there with GGTIA, LLAB, or SB which are for me some of Oasis's finest material.
DOYS as an album has aged alright. I still think the A-side to the album is one of the strongest the band has ever done. TT still reminds me of classic Oasis and is probably in my top 20 Oasis songs of all time. TSOTL continues to get the blood pumping. BIU remains one of the most creative things the band has done. FD is another Noel sung song that is up there with some of the best Oasis material. HHL hasn't aged one bit since the album leaked I still love its groove. TBWTL is quite possibly Gem's finest contribution. TNOR isn't that great but its good a stomp, sneering Liam, and a decent solo. AGN is basically TMOS part 2 and I still can't make up my mind which one is better. Its not very good either but as 2 mins and something it flys by and gives the album a nice push. SO isn't my ideal closer probably after BM and AATWR it's my least favorite closer but it does fit the album well and isn't nearly as bad as the former two.
MG and DM remain untouched. Third place changes every day from BHN, SOTSOG, DBTT, and DOYS.

mmmm, hard one. Grower: To Be Where Theres Life - Since the first performances of DOYS in august last year, I was very unsure about this song. My first thought after Seattle was "fuckin' hell, such a repetitive thing". But then became the leak and then the album, so listening to the original I started to feel the vibe of the song, and now I'm addicted to it. What a song. Walking down the street listening to this particular song is the bollocks. Shrinker: I'm Outta Time - I was very shocked when oasisinet released the clip of I'm Outta Time, cos I didn't thought that Liam could ever compose like that. My first impression of that clip was "mmm The Masterplan part 2", but when the album came out I was a bit disappointed. "If Im to fall..." was the chorus and not a pre chorus. Also the live performances didn't help too much. Albums: Well lets see. My least favourite now is BHN, I'm full of the orchestra thing. Then comes HC, for one reason: Born On A Different Cloud. The next is MG, I'm not listening to it since 1 or 2 months. Bores me quick DBTT & SOTSOG are tied. I listen to them quite a lot. And my favourites are DM & DOYS. Cannot separate them in any way, both are so good.

grower: waiting for the rapture. didn't like this much t.b.h. when doys came out, but now only recently i'm really starting to dig it!
shrinker: high horse lady. loved it when it came out , but i think was due to two factors: 1) it was so different from anything noel had churned out before, and 2) i had my fanboy glasses on (OK I WILL ADMIT IT) and just put it higher than it really was. now, don't get me wrong, i don't hate the song, but i don't like it nearly as much as i did at first.
would say t.b.w.t.l. grew on me to, but that happened right after the beginning of the tour and i heard it live at wembley arena, and the electric proms. i will never get tired of hearing the live version, but sadly i don't think we will ever get to hear it live again (only on recording now. )

Grower: To Be Where There's Life - I was pretty meh about it for awhile then the Live version grabbed me by my balls and didn't let go. Gently of course. Same with Mucky Fingers on DBTT.
Shrinker: I'm Outta Time - Loved it at first. Couldn't get enough of it. Then one day, out of the blue, I realized it sounded incomplete. All it needed was another verse from Liam. I absolutely love the only verse though and the chorus is solid as well.

Grower: 'Waiting For The Rapture' - Didn't get it at first, I remember thinking it was a bit messy and all over the place. Probably my favourite song on the album now.
Shrinker: 'High Horse Lady' - Loved it at first. I recall myself using the word 'genius' - As idledreamer said it was definitely a case of the fan goggles there. It's not the worst song to make it on an album but it's up there. Got real old real fast.
As of now, this is my 'DOYS' song rating:
01. Waiting For The Rapture 02. The Shock Of The Lightning 03. Soldier On 04. Falling Down 05. The Turning 06. Bag It Up 07. To Be Where There's Life 08. I'm Outta Time 09. The Nature Of Reality 10. Ain't Got Nothin' 11. (Get Off Your) High Horse Lady

Grower: Like everyone else, WFTR. Didn't like it at first but it has gotten better.
Shrinker: Falling Down. When this leaked, I was in awe. I was thinking, if the album is full of these than holy fook. Well it has gotten dull and the AA mix has not helped its cause at all. I just listen to that mix if I want a Falling Down Fix.
DOYS has fallen to #5 for me after MG, DM, BHN, DBTT. It was originally 4th.

I'm Outta Time, the first few tmes I thought it was an accomplished, if not particularly inspired sub-SCYHO ballad. But within a few plays I increasingly disliked it to the extent that whenever I listen to the LP now, at the end of TSOTL I always wind it on straight away to..
Get Off Your High Horse, Lady. Appalling title, perfunctory lyrics, cliched blues structure, corny effects on Noel's verse vocals.. yet, after a bunch of plays, I have to admit it's got something extraordinary about it. The choir of Noel harmonies in the instrumental bridge, the repeated use of D string riffing, the stomp and swagger, I was indifferent towards it for the longest time and it ain't Champagne Supernova or anything but I'm glad it made this album.
None of my opinions on the other songs have changed that much in a year, I like the first 4 songs a bit more and the last 5 tracks slightly less than the first time I heard them.

Grower: Waiting for the Rapture
Did like this song anyway but tend to play this a ton.
Stinker: Get off your high horse lady
Didnt like this from day 1 and still cant stand it, always forward past it, novelty b-side type song and shouldnt be on the album.

i dont understand how waiting for the rapture is on everyones 'grower' list! is there only me who loved this song from the start?? its one of the best songs they have done in ages! everyone just seemed to be bangin on about the turning and bag it up. they are decent songs but nowhere near as good as people are saying. the turning best song in the last 10 year? like fuck it is! waiting for the rapture pisses all over both of them!
for me my biggest grower is the shock of the lightning. i wasnt too keen at first cos the lyrics arent the best but i love it now! (a bit like i was when lyla first came out)

Grower - Soldier On: All tracks hit me straight away (particularly the first few ones) but this one has really grown on me to an extent that it is a great closer for the album. It's problem is that it's the last track after a couple of downright shit that precedes it. Imagine if they had an absolute epic song before it at the end - it would be up there with Married With Children as a brilliant mellow way to end an album.
Shriker - I'm Outta Time: It's weird how every one was struck how beautiful this seemed at first. I still think it's one of Liam's best songs, but like most of his songs, fails to realise it's potential. It's half baked like many of his songs.

Grower - To Be Where There's Life. At first i thought it was just a so-so song. Now it's easily become my favorite on the album.
Shrinker - The Nature of Reality. Loved at first, but it needs to be a bit longer for me, there's just not enough lyrical content. Still think it's excellent tho.

Grower: Waiting for the Rapture - I didn't really like this at all at first, but the alt version made me actually notice how good the lyrics and song structure were. I now appreciate the album version more than I did before.
Shrinker: I'm Outta Time - This one only stood out at first because there weren't any other real ballads on DOYS. It's easily one of the worst of Oasis's ballads. I liked it at first, but "keep on keeping on" just sounds stupid, and it really needed another verse. It's also way too overproduced for having no real substance to it.

Grower - To be Where There's Life. It's strange how your opinion on songs can change after hearing them live. I wasn't too keen on it at first but it's quite catchy and I love the outro on the live version.
Shrinker - I'm Outta Time. I find it cringeworthy to be honest, the lyrics are poor and it is overproduced. It seems a bit too "nice", it needed roughing out a bit like the live version (which also doesn't have the tacky Lennon sample). It could have been so much better.

Grower: The Shock of the Lightning - I always liked it from day one but it just seems to get better and better. Best single of the decade without a doubt.
Shrinker: High Horse Lady - I thought it was a good filler track at first, but it gets boring very quickly. Still not as bad as TNOR or AGN though.

Biggest grower- Bag it up. Really wasnt fond of it when I first heard it and couldnt understand the fuss. Quite like it now, nice little song although not amazing but still good.
Biggest shrinker- None really, I think the songs that I initially liked I still like at least the same if not more. Never really cared for the nature of reality or soilder on and still dont.
Still their third best album for me after DM and MG

Grower: Solder On - 1st time i heard it i thought what the fuck, whens it picking up. But it grows after each listen.
Shrinker: Falling Down - i think its great on the album but it doesnt seem as good live, which is an odd thing for oasis. This is the reason why its shrunk a wee bit for me.
Fav on the album remains Bag It Up - its just great. Worst on the album - High horse lady - just not feeling it.
Like its been said before, DM & MG - untouchable
DOYS is in my opinion Oasis' 3rd best album - it seems to be really underatted with most oasis fans. The song quality is great and I think people forget this coz Bag it up and the turning dont get played live.
SOTSOG, DBTT, BHN, HC come after that in my ranking order.

Grower: I'm Outta Time I seem to be alone in this but whatever. Thought it was very boring at first but gradually came to love it for its heartfelt lyrics and lovely melody.
Shrinker: Get Off Your High Horse Lady I was glad for this song at first as it was something completely different than all other Oasis songs. However, it just seems like its missing something after a while. It had massive potential to be a groovy freak out of a song, but it just doesn't go much of anywhere

This is a good question.
Grower: I was going to say WFTR, but everyone else did. So I'll go with Bag it Up. At first I thought it was alright. But now I love the song. The music is good and the lyrics are just random, which kind of reminds me how Noel use to write his lyrics back in the day (ie Supersonic, Columbia, BHN, etc.). I also like it because it isn't a 'typical' Oasis opener. I think that's why it kind of threw me off. RnRS, TUTS, and THT all have that similar feel to it. Bag it Up sets up DOYS properly.
Shrinker: I have to go with FD. Don't get me wrong, I still like the song a lot. I'm just not obssessed with it like I once was. I think they could have done more with it to make it a bit more epic, which falls on Sardy's shoulders more than it should Noel's/Oasis'. And yea, it isn't as good live but I expected that because a lot of what makes that song on the album is the production. If you strip it of all the extraneous effects going on, then it will come off sounding extremely bare.

Slightly OT... I agree with Falling Down live that it's not that impressive if you hear just the audio... maybe not even with the picture on HD pro shot. But I think once you're there at the gig, it's dark outside/in the arena. The lights, the song, video... imho it's very impressive then. Like as a whole experience. Especially at Wembley Saturday when it was raining down, it was just.. "o.o whoah."

Grower-- Waiting For The Rapture The acoustic version of this song (WFTR Alt pt 2) I think is better than the one of the album. Although the band sounded good playing this song live, Noels voice always seemed to lack the "power" and loudness to bring it alive, he sung it too softly i thought.
Shrinker-- Im Outta Time When I first heard this song I was hooked. It was the most hyped up song on the album before the leak. I couldnt get enough of it. But as time went on, I played it out. It needs another verse. And though the chorus is good, the words to this song really arent that good at all. Someone should have helped Liam with the words. I thought this was gonna be the SCYHO pt 2, But I was wrong

I hate to be another one, but I'm gonna go with Waiting for the Rapture as well. It's a love song, but still manages to have swagger. Despite the blatant Door's rip off, it's the best on the album easily. I agree with the above poster that although the music is great live and it retains it's energy, Noel's voice is sometimes not strong enough to really belt it out like he does on record.
My shrinker would be Bag It Up, but purely by default. I've just got back into the album after resting it for a few months and this is just the one which happens to be played least. Liam sounds very enthusiastic to be singing on a record again though, does anyone else think Noel drowns him out in the beginning verses?
