I said I want Obama to be successful enough so I, and we, can have a good life. I'm out of university in just over year, I want to be able to buy a place to live, I want unemployment down so I can get a job etc. All i said was that Rush had a point - if us conservatives don't agree with the socialist platform that Obama wants to push, then why would we want that to be successful? I want a republican back in who will represent my ideals the most, thus I hope Obama does ok enough to stabalize the country, but not good enough to prevent Republicans from having a chance in 2012. If you don't understand that concept, then you don't understand politics.

Fuck baby animals! I'm not religious so my feelings towards abortion are completly different than most Republicans, but I feel that killing potential humans is wrong! I think that you're responsible for your actions, if you're going to have sex you have to realize that a child is a possible outcome. If you don't want that responsibility, either don't have sex or put it up for adoption. Now I know some people aren't educated like that, and the foster homes arent all good. But that's why you liberals focus on the wrong thing - abortion is not only immoral, it's the easy way out....Clearly you should focus on bettering ophanges, bettering foster homes, and improving sex ed in schools. Yes, I'm for abortion in rape cases, if it hurts the mother, etc, but overall I'm not. With that being said, abortion CAN NOT be made illegal, bc the procedure would go underground and it would become dangerous - which is one of the many reasons why the government needs to LEGALIZE and REGULATE drug use..... But that's neither here nor there. AbbeyRoad, you just don't get it. Liberals have a set of principles they believe in and Republicans have their own set of principles. Of course both parties have the same goal - the betterment of society - but the difference comes on how to achieve that. Party labels are a reality, I don't know what you're on about thinking otherwise. McCain wasn't the right guy either, that's why I didn't vote. I hate both candidates. And I've said it many times and I'll say it again - during war times we need a war time President, and Obama simply isn't one. Not criticizing him for that because he didn't run as one, but the country made a huge mistake. Sure, we need to focus on domestic issues - economy, etc. But terrorism is basically the new communism in respect to threats to our country, it's very real and very dangerous - and more so than the Cold War because the Cold War remained Cold, this "War on Terror" is already Hot. Then you add Iran, the problems with Iraq, N. Korea to the mix, ALONG WITH the middle east conflict, and you have a VERY volatile situation. Someone such as Obama who is naive and inexperienced on the matter is not what we need. Sure, he may get lucky, and sure, he may have good advisors who will guide him to good solutions, but that's ALOT of stock to place in the man you voted for to be commander in chief. Obama WILL fail no matter what he does. He's set the expectation way too high that he can't achieve everything he wants - so you're going to have a lot of dissapointed people in 4 years even if his presidency is seen as a success. What bothers me most is the false sense of hope and the ridiculous unjustifed hype over this man. One member called him a demagogue, and the more I think about it, the more that members right. You've all been swept along with his rhetoric, good speaking skills, and the belief that because Bush is bad all Republicans are bad. Essentially, you've all been played as fools. Obama is a regular politician and nothing special. He is no JFK, he is no Lincoln. The fact of the matter is that he is in great danger of being Carter 2.0 which would devastate this country even further. Get a hold of yourselves, you all have tricked your mind into believing Bush was Satan and no one can be any worse and that Obama is the Messiah who will usher in the best years that America has seen. So so so misguided. So so so naive.

McCain wasn't the right guy either, that's why I didn't vote. I hate both candidates. Basically you didn't vote because you knew your guy was going to lose, and you wanted to be able to stand smugly aside after the fact and say "Well they were both shit so I didn't vote". I wanted Obama to win, but surely you can see the stupidity in taking no steps whatsoever to try and bring about the outcome you wanted, and then bitching when that outcome didn't happen? Get a hold of yourselves, you all have tricked your mind into believing Bush was Satan and no one can be any worse and that Obama is the Messiah who will usher in the best years that America has seen. So so so misguided. So so so naive. Someone like you who has spent 8 years apologising for the idiocy, shortcomings, and dangerous ineptitude of President Shit-For-Brains doesn't get to call other people "misguided" or "naive". Wake up and look in the mirror. Are those sour grapes going down any better yet? Clearly not.

wait.... you didn't vote?
i honestly can't believe that. all this complaining you're doing and you. didn't. even. vote.
and what does this statement mean? this makes NO. SENSE. "Obama WILL fail no matter what he does. He's set the expectation way too high that he can't achieve everything he wants - so you're going to have a lot of dissapointed people in 4 years even if his presidency is seen as a success."
i hope you don't think everyone is blindly following obama. you can't go around thinking like that. every single person i know that supported obama and still do are very interested in politics and have no problem admitting when he messes up. if he fucks up, he fucks up. if he succeeds then you, yes, you, will have to admit he's done well. jesus, are you so disillusioned that you actually believe we're all brainwashed and "naive"? get over yourself. you aren't the only person interested in politics here. christ

Of course that doesn't mean Obama needs to get killed to be elevated, that's not at all what I'm saying. While JFK was a very good president, his assassination elevated him to God status even though he doesn't deserve that much praise.

Agreed. But your Bay of Pigs argument is poor - he handled that situations very well by consulting with his advisors - he initially wanted to use military action, but after thinking about it he decided to go with a blockade. That's something former President George Bush failed to do with Iraq, all of Bush's judgments were made on rash decisions.

Live4evr, you didn't vote?! I'm disappointed, when there's a lot at stake like that, eventhough you don't love any of the candidates, you have to pick the less evil!!! Most elections are this way, your favorite person is not there... I've been in this situation many times! The only time I was really happy with whom I voted for was when I voted for our current French Prez! You don't know how frustrating it is to live in the US and being unable to vote whereas my future depends on this election! Uh that's one of the reasons why I'm looking forwards to getting my citizenship!
Then again, I wouldn't have voted for Obama and I would have voted for Mc Cain eventhough I'm not crazy about him. Now I don't want Obama to fail because it would hurt the country and me and my family. However I'm really afraid that if he keeps going in the direction he's going into it's gonna be ROUGH. Now I just hope that some of his entourage (or himself why not) will see that they're really driving into a hard brick wall and stop some of the nonsense.
As for Live4evr calling Obama naive I agree, his policies are simplistic and any economist will tell you why. Maybe he should appoint those people instead of appointing people who "forget" to pay their taxes... Enough said...

Well, without listening to any economist, I am against his stimulus package. Some of it is good but lots of it is BS. That's my opinion. Then I've heard so many economists saying pretty much what I've been saying all along and some of them were working with Bill Clinton so you can't even accuse me of being a prejudiced conservative.... I mean hell, I remember my economics teacher dismissing Keynesianism as an effective solution nowadays and he's a frickin' socialist french teacher! I've seen all those policies being applied is France and even when the global economy was good we had HIGH taxes and DOUBLE digits unemployment rates...

Jesus Christ, some of you need to read better. I said that JFK was a good president. But he's not as God like as the media and most make out to be - that's due to the assassination And that's a psychological thing. Princess Diana? Heath Ledger? etc. Sure they both were good in their respective fields - a princess who helped humanity, an actor with good skills - but both were elevated to another level because of their deaths. JFK is no different.

And stop bringing "the first" into the presidency/ it matters nowt that JFK was the first Catholic. And it matter nowt that Obama is the first black. For the last time the presidency is about leadership, not religion or race, get that through to your thick self. I don't give a shit if Obama was Blue, he needs to run the country well - that's what matters - not the color of his fucking skin.

Note: It matters socially and culturally, for sure. But as President it has no bearing, so stop trying to make it seem like Obama is good because he's the first black president. Judge him on his policies and successes/failures, and not on his skin color, ffs.
"Oh my God, Obama is the first black President, he's so amazing, best president ever because of that" FUCK OFF AND GET REALISTIC.

Who says he's the best President ever just because he's black? No one on this board. So who are you railing against? Oh yeah, those so called "nutty-liberals" who are apparently saying this (though again, not here). But guess what, there are nutters on both sides of the spectrum - YOU, for instance.
Argue against this: If Obama was a Republican you would be falling over yourself trying to suck your own cock and raving about how great it is that the Republicans have made this historic step for democracy. But because he doesn't represent your party the fact he is the first black president is a non event.
No one is saying he is the best president ever, because he is black or for any other reason. They ARE saying that you a short-sighted sour grapes douchebag for immediately griping about everything the man does before he even had a foot in the door. After telling everyone else to atop moaning and let history be the judge all through the horrendous Bush Jr years, I think you should listen to your own advice and shut your cakehole.
