Wierd how so many critics have praised High Horse Lady and Ain't Got Nothin', whilst the fans seem to hate those two

I love every single song on that album. Ain't Got Nothin, GOYHHL, TBWTL...all of them. The album is just brilliant.

Great album, great story around it, fantastic tour with ups and downs. I put this album right at #1 since 1999 year for Oasis.
For me:
THE #1 Be here now
MG & DM = untouchables
Oasis since 1999:
#1: DOYS #2: SOTSOG #3: DBTT #4: HC
so Dig out your soul is clearly up front

I know its late but I just found this on a website from the most popular radio station here in Vancouver, Canada.
Oasis Dig Out Your Soul
This album is one of their greatest. From the opening song of "Bag It Up" you know the album will be great. Initially the album sounds nothing like Oasis - and indeed it's one of their most experimental albums - but only when you listen to the album do you appreciate just how great it is. Andy and Gem finally produce songs worthy of an Oasis album - and Liam Gallagher finally becomes a fully accomplished songwriter with "I'm Outta Time" - which is guaranteed to be hugely popular with fans , and non-fans alike. Oasis fans will Love this - and people who always accuse Oasis of "pouring out the same old rubbish" will be completely lost for words because their argument will be voided. This isn't the Oasis that you know - it isn't an album of "tried and tested Oasis" - it's a great album in which every track shines. Oasis have brought back the days where you would buy an album and invite your friends and family for a listen. ***** 5/5 By Alex Montenegro, Vancouver

Metacritic Averages:
Don't Believe the Truth: 64 Dig Out Your Soul: 66 Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds: 69 Chasing Yesterday: 68
Fairly consistent, no?

Makes me wonder how Metacritic would have rated DM, MG, BHN, and The Masterplan when they first came out. Here are my guesses: DM: 75 MG: 45 (I say this because upon release the press was brutal with this album for really no apparent reason) BHN: 100 (because the initial reviews were extremely positive. Almost makes you wonder if Oasis snuck cocaine into the journalists' drinks while they were writing their reviews!!) TMP: 70

TMP Nah, Metacritic doesn't rate the albums - they average many of the reviews from various sources and weight the sources by giving them more OR less relevancy, so it's not a direct average per se. So Metacritic would probably be in the high 80s for DM as it would average reviews accordingly.....It's not a perfect way, but it's the best website for reviews. They also link to the reviews, which makes it a nice source to go to. Note: That being said, All Music is probably the best site for music reviews. AND, I feel they are almost 100% spot on with the Oasis review, see here:

^Can't complain at all about that!

I think Allmusic is the fairest one, they aren't biased or pretentious like others.
But I found their BHN review very funny, it looks like a 5/5 review with lots of praise, but then the rate is only 3.5/5.

I love BHN, it's my most favorite and most played Oasis album by far. But objectively, 3.5 is fair for a very bloated, self-indulged, coke-fueled album.

Out of the seven paragraphs, only two talk about the album itself. This seems to be common trend in pop music journalism. When bothering to actually talk about the record, the Observer only serve to compare Noel's songs to songs by other bands - I don't really get a feel for what the album is like from this review, or whether I would enjoy it. Rolling Stone magazine does that a lot expecially with oasis, and I hate it. I guess they really don't want to admit that Oasis has good albums.
