I think that this lead off single probably has the most depth in it since DYKWIM? I've only heard it once on the radio and I just knew that it was going to take repeat listens for me to get to grip with it properly. I like it, and I think Noel has taken the band into a very satisfying direction. Bring on the GROOOVES! YEAH BABY!

Honestly, I just listened to it once on youtube...and I'm a little disappointed. Granted it's been ONE listen, but I don't like that refrain/chorus. The verses are great though.
But where's the guitar solos?

I love the song. Its simple and that is what makes it great. It could definately have its place on Definately Maybe. I hope the rest of the album grooves like this one. Falling Down is great too by the way.
9/10

Talk about overproduced. Great melody, guitar work, drums...outside of that it sounds like an overproduced foo fighters song. And i'll tell you why: Liam's voice is shit now and has to be modified. 5/10 entirely too poppy for me.

As a lead single I'm diggin it.... Way better than Lyla. I'm loving the new vibe on this album. To all the people expecting Rock N Roll Star, it's not 1994. Give this sound a chance
TSOTL - 8/10 FD - 9/10

couldn't agree with you more. after all, we want new oasis, not just noel trying to recreate the past. falling down is a huge step forward for the band, and the shock the lightening is a really solid first single with a great vibe.

I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!! It¡¯s a million times better than Lyla..I think the lyrics are smart and funny, it makes me want to get up and just start living (like any proper Oasis song should do). It made getting up at 3am to listen well worth it, plus Noel is truly the happiest rocker in morning!! ƒ8ž1 I LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!

It is an absolute belter. Melodic rock n roll. Great lyrics. 'Got my feet on the street but I can't stop flying .' Can you think of a more exciting lyric? There is no one on earth who can sing it better than Liam. Means it. Any other band, any other, who put this out would be lauded the world over. Genuinely optimistic exciting rock roll song. The hardest song to write.
They are the best we've got. No question. Miles in front.

I can't wait to hear this live. You know how Noel said he didn't really like Lyla until he started seeing the crowds reaction to it live? This could be like that.
In personally love this tune. It sounds almost Headshrinker-ish.

It's a song worthy of being a single on DM. Awesome song 10/10! Nothing wrong with it at all so people quit hating it.

I haven't made up my mind on a set rating - it's fluctuating between a 8.5/10 and 9.5/10....I think I like Falling Down slightly better
However, TSOTL is indeed great! Much better than THT and Lyla. I would have preferred the mini solo at the end to have been bigger though, but hey, we can't have everything lol.
And yeah, in places it sounds like The Foo Fighters, but it still has Oasis written all ove it. Great first single.

6/10 for me. Decent song but a bit too weak for first single, and considering how much they've gone on about grooves and how different it's going to be it just sounds like a poor mans Bring it on down.
Will sound good live though.
