Noel may have complained that there was simply no room for tracks like FADE AWAY and LISTEN UP on STOP THE CLOCKS, but in Japan they've used some amazing new technology to squeeze two extra track onto the 40 minute CDs! Amazing! eil.com/shop/moreinfo.asp?catalogid=372685

that "no room" for this or tht song is nonsense. cd's can hold up to 80 minutes of music. Noel wanted only those 18 tracks on STC and since they wouldn't fit into 1 disc he had to split it into 2 discs..... there's no amazing new technology involved

Noel wanted only those 18 tracks on STC and since they wouldn't fit into 1 disc he had to split it into 2 discs Then why has done a few interviews bemoaning the fact that several had to be left out as there was no room? I suspect Sony may have wanted to maximise profits by putting as few tracks as possible on the collection. Sony still have to pay songwriting royalties for each song used - the less they use the cheaper the total project is for them to produce. The total running time is JUST over 80 minutes - just enough to justify making this a more expensive (for purchasers) double CD. There's space for over another hour of music here! This may be a rip-off for purchasers but profits are obviously all that matter to Sony; no wonder Oasis are ditching them and no wonder record company profits are going down. Would a fan really recommend this compilation to a good friend who wanted a double Oasis best of? No way, most would burn two 80 minutes CDs of their own with all the STC tracks plus stacks more.

Come on people. When Oasis REALLY does a "Best Of" it is a 3 disc. They weren't going to give Sony their "big one" so to speak. Hence the damn name of the album "Stop The Clocks" as Noel said, it is sort of symbolic of a bookmark. When the novel ends, the real Oasis Collection will come out. Until then stop worrying about the selection of a FUTURE Best Of.

When Noel refers to "no room", he's not talking about the physical capacity of a CD, he's talking about the maximum length he's set in his head. He's put this collection together to fit like a typical Oasis gig - that equals around 18 songs and 90 minutes long - which is how it's turned out.

Noel recently said in an interview that DKWIM was in STC until the last day but he toss it out because he thought it would make the listening of the cd more difficult, since the track is too long... of course this is ONLY his oppinion, but Noel really worries about making an album easy to be listened, instead of just throwing good songs in it

Any other oasis japanese goodies out there? Jilliam, if you like that STC Japanese Edition (I gotta get me one of those BTW), you should try some of these Japanese Oasis singles and cd's. Some Might Say - Includes 6 tracks (the Some Might Say demo, and You've Got To Hide Your Love Away amongst the regulars ones on the standard UK single) Don't Go Away - This is a good one, as it includes Sad Song, Cigs & Alcohol (Live from G-MEX '97), and Fade Away (With Johnny Depp) Who Feels Love - Includes the Gas Panic! demo. Great version as it is more "calm" and Noel on vox. Don't Believe The Truth - Can Y'see It Now? (I Can See It Now!!) Also, if you plan on buying any of them or other Oasis stuff, I recommend using eBay, as you can get some good deals there (I'm a Oasis collector BTW )

i think Mr Monobrow has hit the nail on the head...18 songs bout 90 minutes = 1 gig. oasis didn't wanna do a best of anyway....it just finishes off with sony...a big 4 disc set at some point in the future no doubt
