Are the songs on Stop the Clocks remastered? Is the aural quality noticeably better?
Curious because I want to know if it's worth picking up the album. If the songs are the same or only slightly better-sounding than the albums, there's really no point.

The most obviously remastered track is Wonderwall, everything else is pretty much lifted straight off the albums. There are slightly new starts to Morning Glory and Champagne Supernova because of the water sounds that linked the last few tracks of that album.
Best price for the bonus edition I've seen is £11.99 in Music Zone, fantastic when you consider how much Virgin and HMV are asking for it (nearly twenty quid!).

Wonderwall was noticeably different. It just plays louder and liam's voice is very crisp

Go Let it Out is much louder, My husband put it in a mastering program and compared the both verisons... the Wave form is pretty different. Personally I think some of the songs sound better, while some have loss something.

IMO Some Might Say Is WAY better, Liam's vocals and the music tracks are more distinct... also is there there a bit of an echo behind Liam's voice when he sings "...follows thunder" an so on, or is it just my imagin-aaa-shion?
I also noticed that all of the WTSMG tracks seem to have an extra "UMPH" behind them...

Sounds remastered to me. If it isn’t then all I can suggest is that the quality of the cd is better than those from 10 years ago?

I remember Noel mentioning in an interview how he thought that WTSMG was too trebly sounding. He said that was how everyone was mixing records at that time and that if he had mixed it now it would sound different. That could be the whole reasoning behind the remaster in the first place, and why the MG songs on STC stand out as significantly different.

seems to be remastered to me. GLIO is definitely louder but in general id say it is. also, the songs kinda fade into each other IMO.

The songs are remastered because when making a full CD, one needs all of the tracks to be of the same relative sound. That is to say, basic level matching, EQ, compression/limiting etc. This makes it work cohesively. Unfortunately, it seems that the remastering of this just meant "LOUD LOUD LOUD!" which really takes away from the limited dynamics Oasis already worked within. Also, (WTS) MG? is harldy what I would call trebly - far from it as a matter of fact.

The cello's much more quieter, and the guitar bits during the bridge are enhanced.

On Slide Away, Noel's backing vocals are actually taken off.

On Slide Away, Noel's backing vocals are actually taken off. Where exactly in the song did you notice this? Only time I hear Noel is at the end on the DM version is when he sings "Don't know, don't care, all I want is you to take me there" I don't have STC (yet) - are you saying they removed that?? Anyone else can confirm. I didn't pick up STC since I have all their albums and there's no new material, but I might pick it up if it is true some of the tracks are remastered. Honestly, the only way I think anyone can tell is if you listen to tracks from STC compared to the originals one after the other with headphones.
