British rockers OASIS agreed to release a Greatest Hits album later this year (06) to escape their recording contract with Sony. STOP THE CLOCKS will hit shops in November (06) - an 18-track combination of their biggest singles and unreleased B-Sides - just months after the WONDERWALL band vowed not to release a Best Of until after their split. Just last December (05), songwriter NOEL GALLAGHER insisted the band would only release a B-sides album this year - not Greatest Hits - and attacked bands who cash in with such albums. He said, "This is from the horse's mouth. We will only do a Best Of when we split up. The only thing we've got in the pipeline next year will be another B-sides album. "I never understood the MANICS (MANIC STREET PREACHERS) and BLUR putting out Best Ofs. "It's kind of saying that whatever you're gonna do from there on is not gonna be your best. We'll put out a Best Of when we stop. "No Best Of or singles album until it's done and dusted." But he now adds, "We were kinda forced into it, but we're going to give it our best shot."
