I always thought this is the kind of song Chris Martin could write if he got his act together and explored his more adventurous tendencies again. Definitely the one that he would be most suited to cover.

Wanderlust might be his best melody post-Beatles. I always think the mournful melodies on this album reflect the aftermath of Lennon's death, maybe his state of mind which added extra poignancy to it.
So many many unheralded gems. Far and away the most satisfying of solo Beatles.

I prefer Paul's 70's solo output to John's. There are so many good songs hidden away on slightly average albums. John had two fantastic solo albums in my opinion and the rest is pretty average. Paul was far more forward thing and eclectic. My rating would be Ram Redrose Speedway Band On the Run Venus and Mars Back to the Egg(first side) Mccartney Wildlife
The rest are forgettable except for the odd amazing tune.

Band on the run.
And I agree, Macca was and still is very forward thinking. The man has tried so many different genres. That was true for the Beatles, but he explored it further in his solo career.
