the real concern is that universal health care is of the table.
as for your article if they are collecting data that is already in the public domain then i can't see that it's illegal, a waste of time and money probably but illegal i doubt it.

I not only see it as being legal, I also see it as a valuable use of resources. If I'm about to take on such a financially costly and politically risky undertaking, I would want to monitor what others are saying about it.
What I'm sure they're NOT doing, however, is gathering this information to make an informed opinion. They are using it PURELY as ammunition to shoot down the opposition. That makes it valuable information to continue the game of partisan politics, but a waste of time for the country.
Is this still the change you all believed in?

Hey! They report, I decide! The spin also stops here as you have entered the no spin zone.
And that's a memo.
Seriously though - name ONE clearcut positive thing Obama has succeeded in?
I fucking hate that man so much.

This is surely a joke, but I'll reply anyhow. The only major terrorist attack on US soil during Bush's administration was inspired during and planned on Clinton's watch.

I fucking hate that man so much. he hasn't had the time to dramatically change anything. he has, however, ordered the closing of guantanamo bay by the end of 2010 and lifted the restrictions of embryonic stem cell research. i call that success. meanwhile, while you "fucking hate that man so much," you didn't vote. you did nothing to stop him from promoting the policies of his you hate so much. hell, even i never claimed to hate bush. okay, here is one: no aq terrorist attacks on us soil in his term!!!! way better that bush's performance in his first period! You'd have to wait and examine the plot, how it was able to happen, what the Bush admin could have done, etc etc. Or maybe it was the result of Obama appeasing terrorists and his weak stance on homeland security.....

Hey! They report, I decide! The spin also stops here as you have entered the no spin zone. Deluded mug. Like you ever saw ANYTHING on Fox news that didn't prop up your riduclous opinions. "Welcome back to Fox. So the country is still in the shitter thanks to the largest ever budget surplus turning into the largest ever deficit, we're stuck in an intractable war built around endless piles of bullshit and lies, and our stock internationally has taken more hits than George Bush on the bong pipe back in college. So the only question remaining to be answered is - how the hell has President Obama let it come to this!?!? Clearly the man is an incompetent idiot."

Cos i didn't see it lol First off, Bush collecting data was a continuation of what Clinton did with his Echelon program. Secondly, it was only with foreign to domestic and vise versa calls and not domestic to domestic Thirdly, it was about keeping us safe. Everyone wanted to know how 9/11 could possibly have happened and why the government slacked off so much - so Bush did something about it, and some of those calls monitored did help prevent plots for taking place. You can't have it both ways - youd either complain about Bush not doing enough to keep us safe if we were attacked, or you would complain, like you are now, that he crossed the line by keep us safe. Fourthly, to tell the general public that if you hear something you don't like, then report it to the White House? WTF? Yeah, ok Stalin. Are you going to send us to the Gulags, too? Idiot. Fifthly, Nancy Pelosi calling protests and speaking out Un-American? But I guess it was fine for the Vietnam War protesters to deliberatley undermine the War effort. I guess it was ok for the Iraqi War protesters to say things like America is not worth dying for, and people like Cindy Sheehan meeting with Hugo Chavez. I guess it was fantastic when Obama's reverend for 20 years blasted America saying things like "God damn America". Yup, in all those cases these people were patriots, but don't you dare speak out against a healthcare bill, woe betide. Pinheads.

Oh and cheers. Bill O'Reilly has a Pinhead/Patriot segment at the end of every show. So I sent that last parragraph in:
Dear Bill
Nancy Pelosi calling protests and speaking out un-American? But I guess it was fine for the Vietnam War protesters to deliberately undermine the War effort. I guess it was ok for the Iraqi War protesters to say things like 'America is not worth dying for', and people like Cindy Sheehan meeting with Hugo Chavez. I guess it was fantastic when Obama's Reverend for 20 years blasted America saying things like 'God damn America'. Probably wont be read on air since it's about 1 hour until he's on, but it deserves to be. Quality.

Yup, in all those cases these people were patriots, but don't you dare speak out against a healthcare bill, woe betide. Pinheads. enough with the bullshit. call a spade a spade. illegal spying is illegal spying. doesn't matter if you have the right intentions, it's still illegal. don't use 9/11 as an excuse. it had nothing to do with 9/11. it had to do with keeping the upper hand the same way j. edgar hoover did. we know why 9/11 happened. read the commission report. nancy pelosi was incorrect for calling ALL the protestors unamerican. many were. they threatened their fellow citizens and intimidated them. some brought weapons to these town hall events for the sole purpose of intimidation. that's unamerican. you comparing these protestors to vietnam protestors and the fool that is jeremiah wright not only is irrelevant, it is among the most stupid things i've ever read from you. i'm surprised every day. cindy sheehan met with hugo chavez. both are idiots. rumsfeld met with saddam, and even gave him weapons. somehow, the sheehan/chavez meeting was worse to you.
