I hope DOYS is good but ...
« Thread Started on Aug 31, 2008, 1:47am »

I have heard FD and TSOTL and I am encouraged this album may be a return to form. But what Iv'e read lately is starting to maybe prepare me for another lack lustre album.

The reviews from the new shows barely mention the new songs so they don't appear to set the world alite.

The new Gem song has a so so reaction and I saw about 10 seconds of the youtube video from Calgary (or Edmonton?) and can't say I was impressed.

I want to wait for the full album versions before making my mind up as before Iv'e made the mistake of ruining great albums by hearing muddy leaked demos or concert footage. Even when you hear the real thing the initial impression is formed and the song will be ruined.

Well you really seem to like those two so why get nervous ? TBWTL i think is excellent, a nice different song from Oasis. I still dont like aint got nothing but i wont panic about the whole album.

My big mouth and magic pie didnt get a great reception at Glastonbury when they first did those songs but at the time the album was still excellent. Its difficult for people to go mad at a concert when they havent head a new song before.

Look at the famous Bournemouth gig where they play Acquiese for the first time and Some might say, no one went mad to that.

The only new songs they have played at recent gigs is TSOTL and FD (both album versions being released and excellent), whereas we have all heard the Ain't Got Nothin demo.

To Be Where There's Life is the only unheard song from the gigs - like NoelsNotebook said, the Vancouver one is mega, the Seattle one is crap. Saying that, I think it is an awesome tune.

I thought the recent shows would have had most of the new album.

Ok then that explains why the press haven't said anything about the new songs.

In Australia there is no trace of tsotl but oasis have been bagged out by jjj-again. They interviewed the kaiser chiefs guy and they took his side in the slagging match they had-oasis irelvant and all that. In Australia they really hate oasis by the way.

Ok time will tell but I'd love oasis to shut these small minded sneering dj's up. Australia has crap radio and I listen to radio one online. Thank f@$k for the Internet and BBC listen again

I am calling it right now - Dig Out Your Soul is a stopgap album. There will be another album in 2010, the so called "kitchen sink" LP, that will feature Stop the Clocks and Record Machine with orchestras and whatnot. DOYS is just there so the band can get that album finished I reckon, the songs on that are probably far superior to these ones.

It will be a good album, I hope, but the "real" new Oasis album is still 2 years or more off. I think that album was meant to be released instead of this one, but I don't think they could finish it in time. I mean, plans and the sound couldn't have changed that much?

Noel was for ages talking about the kitchen sink, and then suddenly out of the blue he starts going on about the "groove". Hence my theory that there is another CD.

cant see that theory myself, Noel has said he went into the studios with an idea in his head any the finished product is nowhere near his original idea.

Times change, what sounds like a great demo one day may turn out to be crap the following week.

highly doubt another album in 2010, they wont finish touring to well into the latter point of 2009 or even early 2010 then they have to have the normal year off.

The new songs don't have POP appeal...so don't expect the reviews to come out saying 'we've found the new Live Forever' or even TIOBI. Expect an alternative, psycedelic album and you won't be disappointed. Expect WTSMG or DM, and you will be. Pretty simple

I agree with the idea that Noel is saving RM and STC for the next album, and build that album around those 2 tunes, but I disagree with your theory to why this is the case - DOYS is not a stopgap album, you can't just all of a sudden change ideas like that without delaying the release date or anything......DOYS was planned, but I think there's a good chance Noel is already thinking about the follow up to it.....

Don't expect any new tunes until they get closely to the release of the album. These shows they are doing are only warm ups, according to Noel!

Some might say that the past 3 Oasis albums have been "stop gap" albums. Nows not the time to put out ANOTHER one, For the love of God Oasis, stop "holding on" to all your "gems" and release your best music!

Sorry to be such a nerd, but I think you meant the time they played My Big Mouth and It's Getting Better (Man!!) at Knebworth.

But you're point is of course totally right, 100%. :)

Give me a break....exactly- SOTSOG and HC were both "stopgaps", with DBTT being their "re-arrival". I still look to DOYS to be their most complete, encompassing work since WTSMG?
