From an article in a Japanese magazine.
According to Virgil Howe, during his visit to Japan as a member of Little Barrie, the members of Amorphous Androgynous are in the midst of making Noel Gallagher's album. Incidentally they came to Japan in early Dec last year.
and according to Liam, Dave Sardy will produce the album. (I think I posted elsewhere before but just in case..)

Great if its true. With AA working with Noel, this album is bound to be somewhat experimental. I like what I'm hearing. I'm just wondering how all this stuff will come together. He gets the Sand Band, which basucally does a lot of acoustic stuff, then he gets Miles Kane, and then we hear about there being strings on the album, and now AA working with him. This shall be an interesting album.
Some would hate to see Sardy doing it, but I dont mind. As long as its both Sardy and Noel making the decisions, instead of Noel blindly doing what Sardy says. It probably will be Noel and Sardy both making decisions.

Is there some interview where it says that Howe said this, or a video? That would really help.

This album could be mental, new tunes and working with Miles, Sand Band & AA.
Then Sardy put a bit of heavy, layered production on too. Imagine Stop The Clocks, Record Machine produced in a DOYS way with some new songs written like Bag It Up & The Turning.....cannot wait, hopefully more news soon.

with each little bit of news that we are getting the more and more i am becoming excited for Noel's album. The Sand Band, AA, and Miles Kane I really just can't wait. Noel is wise enough these days, musically to release something that he knows is great. In addition he seems to be going through an inspirational period (seeing from DOYS tracks being written in the studio to the tracks written on DOYS tour)

Nice, we're in for a treat, it seems.
Now if only he could recruit Liam Gallagher as lead singer...

I'm really excited about Noel's solo but I'm afraid I will get bored of listening to an album full of Noel vocals sadly, needs Liam to finish them off.
Hope that makes it on to the album, sounds so promising.

Now if only he could recruit Liam Gallagher as lead singer... I do agree though, Noel has got great songs and I admire him as a songwriter, but an album full of Noels vocals might as well not do it for me.. Don't know yet..

Noel doesn't have as great a voice as Liam...but I personally think he has more range of expression and obviously more vocal range. I don't worry @ all about being bored by a bunch of Noel vocals.
No, it's not an especially striking voice...but as long as he writes for his voice I thiink it'll be fine.
We've been saying that Noel is going to have it harder because we expect more from him. But it's also going to be difficult because it will probably be very easy for us to listen to his album and imagine how it could have been better by Liam's involvement. If there is a tune with a lot attitude, I think that a popular opinion will be that it would have sounded better with Liam's snarl. It's harder for us to try to slot Noel into the BDI project.

It's harder for us to try to slot Noel into the BDI project. Really easy. You just have to imagine Beady Eye with good songs. Personally, I always thought that Noel brings more soul when he sings, something I always look for in music

I don't see any danger of being bored of Noel's voice. I'm actually more annoyed by Liam's voice at the moment. It just doesn't sound real to me in the studio. I can't enjoy it.

Totally agree with you, i never thought i would say or think it but i actually prefer Noels voice these days - especially if it sounds anything like Record Machine which is a truly epic vocal from Noel, I still love Liams voice but as you say its hard to really love with all the studio work that goes into it compared to the earlier days. That said though hes done really well to improve it so much since the DBTT era so good on him, bit for me a full Noel-sung album will be a pleasure to listen to for me P.S. Ive got the picture of Noel thats your signature blown up into a big canvas in my living room - it looks fucking amazing

To have AA involved would be awesome, but Dave Sardy? Alarm bells are ringing for me. Expect it to be flat and dull sounding if it's the case.

^ Not a massive fan of the DBTT production but I think the DOYS production was brilliant for that collection of songs. I don't think that those songs sounded flat or dull

On DOYS, Liam sounded alright. But on the new Beady Eye stuff we've heard so far... I much rather listen to Noel nowadays who can actually sing like that than Liam, where I know it's kinda fake. A bit sad actually, because I enjoyed his voice so much until it became shite. It was truly magnificent.

i wouldn't be surprised if there were guest vocals on the album like Ian Brown, Richard Ashcroft or maybe Cheryl Cole ;D Please lord, no Ian Brown. ANYONE but him. He is not a singer. Aschcroft, Kelly Jones and Weller would be alright though. Throw in Dave from the Sand Band and now you're talking.

Is there some interview where it says that Howe said this, or a video? That would really help. It's just a line in the article on Noel's solo. but here is the story behind the interview with Little Barrie and a bit of info about the issue, says 'when asked about the psychedelic unit Amorphous Androgynous that Virgil had joined before, unexpectedly he dropped an important statement on Noel Gallagher's solo album.' www.barks.jp/news/?id=1000067170

I've always thought Noel sings better than Liam and I preffer his voice than Liam's. Liam's voice was a legendary icon on the three first Oasis albums but then...you know.... I prefer Noel's voice right now, which is better with the years, and it's not boring to me. What it's true is that maybe Noel tends to make the songs sound slower, he sings in a more acoustic way than Liam, who usually sings with more energy. Anyway Liam's sometimes annoying singing like he's so fucking angry and like he's attacking somebody in every song. That's my point. The only thing I'm scared about Noel's solo work is him doing a very relaxed album without the rock'n'roll energy and that awesome simplicity his songs had at 90's that he hasn't shown in the last Oasis cds.

Daydreaming at the thought, and wishful thinking, Noel should tap on Stephen Patrick Morrisseys' window.....(sigh)
